Stringy meat.
I love chicken fried steak ... except when the cook uses stringy, chewy meat. What's up with that? It grosses me out big time.

They're too cheap to use good cuts of meat.

Me too - it's fairly popular down here.
Places that allow that don't stay open very long - at least not when there is competition.
Unfortunately, that's a growing trend in some of the major industries.

Spock: Ooh! I had not realized that it was cheap meat. I just thought it was an acquired taste portion of meat, that I didn't acquire. Thanks. Cracker Barrel was one where I ate everything but the stringy meat. And the second was a Boston Market TV dinner. Both of which I would never expect to get 'cheap' meat.
stepper: I was expecting you to add 'Kale' to the list in this new thread.

I've never had Kale, so I won't comment.

Think about a green fuzzy string that you put on a Christmas present for decoration - Kale is less appetizing and about as chewy.
