Okay Bards... What you've read in the "haunted" thread, as of this date, is as far as I've gotten on the thinking of the direction of the storyline... I thought the members could play off of each other and that would move the story along.
Several members have PMed me about what they were allowed and not allowed to do... what direction I had planned for the plot... etc., so I thought I'd start this thread so that I don't have to keep repeating myself individually... we can all discuss the what's & where's... and whatnot's & wherenot's... in this one thread for all to see.
Basically, I was going to "borrow" from some of my favorite movies, TV shows & books. The setting is sort of a 'haunted' convention, where the ones who don't get scared off will be listed in polls to get voted off one by one until one is left as the winner... winner of what exactly, I'm not quite sure. I just thought I'd figure that out from where the story ended up.
Just had a thought... if enough bards join in, we can do polls where members can vote which bard becomes the victim of the week type deal... they get scared/killed off...
So ask your questions, or give comments and ideas... let's get to ghostbusting!
BTW: Mrs. Peacock is based on Hera (the peacock eyes) & Mrs. Danvers (from Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier)...

Just wanted to add that the bards don't have to stick together in one big group... they can break up into small groups, or get separated from each other and find themselves all alone...
Several movies & characters came to mind when I thought this up, ones that stick out are:
But inspirations can come from any various TV shows, movies, or books (and any of the characters they contain) that any bard wants to use.
All are invited to join... say a little... say a lot... just go wherever your muse leads you...

By The Way: If you want a special "haunted" treat... view "The House Of Whoosher" thread in an IE browser. Le fixed it up really nice, and the treats don't all show up in the Firefox/Mozilla, and other types of browsers.

Oh yeah... Mrs. Peacock is also a character in the game of "Clue"... which is where I got the name from... and that led me to think of Hera's eyes... and the mansion setting made me think of Mrs. Danvers... and that's how this character came to life.

Did any of you Star Trek fans get the impression that the latter seasons of Voyager "borrowed" some plots from hit movies? IMHO they did it rather well. Of course it helped having a few combustible elements in play. Maybe someone in The House is sitting on a dark secret from the past -- a secret that could save lives ... ... or threaten them.

I am a dark secret from the past.
or...maybe
It's past dark, and I've got a secret.
or could be...
I passed the secret in the dark.
Wait...found my grocery list....It's passed time I bought a new can of Secret.

Are we allowed to post more than once in a row or should we be polite and wait for the others? This is my first attempt at writing like this and I'm not sure what the etiquette is.

I guess that depends on if you're interacting with other bards or not. If you go off on your own alone... then there's nothing stopping you from making posts one right after the other to tell of your various adventures. But if you're waiting for another/other bard/s to react, then you'll need to wait for their post/s before posting again.

I reread your last post, and you're not talking to guru or he to you... so I don't see why you can't post again.

Feel free to kick me next time. I really am just trying to have a good time and I don't want to break the rules. You did a great job of recovering. I thought the statue thing was great!

Part of the fun is getting yourself out of corners that the other bards back you into. It keeps everyone on their toes. Plus, if one or more of the bards disappears due to computer problems or life keeping them offline, then you'll need to learn how to go off and leave them where they are. Much like Red did when she joined 'The Zena Scrolls' and the bard she was with just stopped posting.

One more question...........How about having conversations with other characters the someone else is writing? I realize it's bad form to write for another person but can we start a conversation and wait for a response...........I know stupid question. I think I'm gonna go for it.....let me know if I messed up again.

You're fine Scrappy... that's the good thing about having a "modify" button... if we go too far, we can edit... edit... edit....
And Freebird... O boy... So glad to have another bard join in! The more the merrier. Welcome!

Ok. So, let me explain. This will all tie in somewhere along the way, I promise.
I suppose I should start by explaining "Phalon" for those of you unfamiliar with the "Zena Scrolls", which takes place in ancient Greece. Phalon is a mystic - or so she has been called - a seeress of sorts. She can delve into the minds of others with a touch, and enter into their dreams, sometimes intentionally, more often by accident, not really knowing how or why she got there.
I think that's where she's going now, in search of her precious cooking pot. Sorry, Guru. I'm sure you had no intention of your curious ancient pot actually being a cooking vessel for a rather vile smelling fish stew. But I ran with it.
Perhaps she's on another plane about to collide into the present. Or maybe just a ghost, just longing to get back her otherworldly possession. I don't know yet. Maybe you do?

Phalon? Guru? I was kinda waiting for an opening like that. If you don't mind or have anything else in mind I'd like to take the bait. (Fish reference There ) I’ll wait for permission……..if not that’s ok too I have alternatives. Just want to say, this is too much fun!

Originally the pot was guess-who's from "A Friend in Need." I was trying to think of a way to tie things back to classic Xena... ...then my truck decided to spew forth its own version of the fires of the Underworld. That has consumed my time recently. Phalon, in my official capacity as guru I have no ego to offend. This is just too much fun anyways! Maybe the bard with the biggest plot twist could win an award -- like a custom smiley that no one else may use. And perhaps conversations could be debugged and finalized thru PM'ing. I'll be back at midnight if anyone wants the inside dirt on my character ... and HOO BOY is there some dirt!

I got that about the pot at first. Which is why I was surprised at Phalon's turning it into a stew pot. I love trying to figure out where to go after someone else totally changes what you were thinking. Guru...or Phalon........if you want to know what I had in mind for the pot let me know. I gota go to bed, I have to work at what I lovingly refer to as "The Butt-crack of Dawn", so I won't be around much longer. Let me know where you would like this to go and I'll jump in where I can......I have a few twists of my own. Think Anne Rice........... ;D

Okay... Like guru, I too was waiting for someone new to take the bait and use it to enter the haunted scroll, but alas that didn't happen. Maybe more will join in soon.

Yep, I got the whole soul pot connection....but only after I first posted about the fish stew. (call me slow, and then read Horace's quote at the end of all my posts. Speak first and ask questions later - one of my biggest faults). Fish stew....Xena's ashes... Not too far of a stretch, no? Phalon's Sole Pot....Xena's Soul Pot. Anyway - I've got my own thoughts on where this is going, but anyone feel free to take it their own way. One of the biggest kicks I get in writing things like this and the Zena Scrolls is trying to figure out where to go after someone posts something different than you had planned. So post away and don't worry about stepping on toes. I wear steel-toed boots myself. Got a post in my head about getting me there, but haven't had time tonight to type it out, and it's way too late to start now. Maybe tomorrow. Sweet dreams.

Oops...wait, I almost forgot. Remember, if including "Phalon" in your posts, that she is from ancient Greece, and therefore speaks only Greek, (duh, on that last part). Another fault of mine - I'm a stickler for detail.

This is my first attempt at prose since college ... and my very first try at doing the bard thing. So I hope I can keep up with the group. Already there are enough possibilities for a two-hour movie.
I wrote a brief summary for my character. I'll send it to anyone on this thread who wants a conversation with him to advance their storyline. Any character summaries sent my way will be held in the strictest confidence.

Fish stew....Xena's ashes... Not too far of a stretch, no? Phalon's Sole Pot....Xena's Soul Pot.
That reminds me of that old thread they started on the old SUSA "Nutforum" way back when. For any newbies who have never seen it: I'm Gabby's Soul Pot on this thread... my posts start on page 12...
