You and your daughter are doing fine, Freebird. I don't care how experienced any of the bards are... it's all in fun. And for the most part, everyone's writing usually improves with each post as they go along.
BTW Guru: I don't mean anything by the "blabbering"... I just didn't want to have to repost the conversations, so that's my way of being a lazy bard.

Nice work, everyone. Guru...pm a copy of your summary to me, if you will. May prevent me from further messing up your plans, eh? Night all.

Why doesn't the story appear in the "last 10 posts" thingie?

"...that's my way of being a lazy bard."
And I thought it was a display of your character's discomfort with the situation. So I've been keeping an eye out for another reason -- the REAL reason -- she would rather be anywhere else.
Do dark secrets abound? In the House of Whoosher??

I don't have a REAL reason as of this post... but that doesn't mean I won't come up with one later on.
I'm sure that dark secrets do abound... and are just lying in wait for the bards to discover them.

A request, if you all please? I think perhaps a brief physical, (or elaborate, if you prefer), description of the characters might be in order. Do you think?
It's easier to write about someone when they are included in your post if you have some way to describe what or who your are seeing.
...and what I'm seeing now is double...about 230am here now and I'm tired. I'd post a description of Phalon, but for that reason it'll have to wait. Work in the am.

Ok Phalon.......here goes.
Scrappy: 25, long blonde hair, bright yellow eyes (to be explained later), rides harley, not skinny but not too much over weight, about 5'5", wears mostly jeans and comfy t-shirts, likes leather when riding her bike (ie; chaps coats etc...), always wears skin tight leather gloves.......without exception.

Guru: 5' 8", waist-length brown hair, blue eyes, unibrow, high cheekbones, has a few extra pounds (his "middle age spread starter kit") but hides it well, wears new jeans (black only) with button-down shirts, prefers full length leather or wool topcoats in bad weather, drives a van.
Photo at left is Guru working his regular job.
Paperwork says he's in his 40's (actual year of birth - 1860)

He's well aware that his lifespan makes him a freak. And for that reason he may sometimes wonder if he was meant to be evil. You have nothing to fear. You're dealing with someone of strong moral conviction who has seen more than his share of man's inhumanity to man. (Does anyone else out there think this discussion thread is almost as cool as the story itself?)

The majority of this description is taken from the character description thread in the Zena Scrolls, and since I'm using the same character, I just copied it over. Left out a couple things that did not pertain to this story, and may have repeated some of what I mentioned here earlier, but I thought it easier to keep it all together.
Phalon is short, 5’2”, long light brown hair, sunstreaked with blonde, green eyes, wears a blue robe, belted at the waist. Attached to the belt are various vials and a pouch containing various medicinal herbs and such. Under the robe, she wears riding breeches and a simple white cotton tunic. Carries a sword strapped to her back..
She is not an Amazon, though most of the crowd she runs with is... Lost her one true love while in her youth to Roman soldiers. Has the ability to “see” things that may not necessarily be clear to her at the time she sees them. Has knowledge of the uses of herbs and plants in healing. Sometimes combines the two abilities, making her a mystical healer? A healing mystic? A quack? Good thing there were no such things as malpractice suits in ancient Greece, from where she comes.
Born in somewhere between 10 and 5 BC, (no birth certificates back then), but what's a few years, give or take, when your in the thousands anyway? In present day ancient Greece, (an oxymoron?), she is about forty.
Edited to add the age thing, which everyone seems intent on divulging.
Yep, Guru, the conversation is always fun.

Hi all I'm having issues trying to post on the House of Whoosher thread. When I go to reply to posts the top half of the page doesn't appear...curious...any of you help me, I'm late for the party! I'll post my character description anyway...in the hope that I can get to write something soon... Dixie - 23, shoulder length blonde hair often tied back in a loose pony tail, very blue eyes. Hourglass figure, usually clad in snug navy jeans and a fitted shirt with black steel toe-capped boots. An action kind of girl she likes fast cars and horse riding and is a qualified diving instructor.

Le has spruced up the thread in Halloween style, and that may be what your problem is. You'll need to either PM her, or post on the Help board requesting her help. Tell her what type of computer & browser you're using, and what thread is causing you the problems. She's the techie here, I'm just the googler.

Strong language must be reserved for strong emotions. And the character Scrappy strikes me as one capable of strong emotions, so the usage is not glaringly gratuitous. Nor is it shamelessly scatalogical. It makes me think that at some time in the future she is going to vent in a major way. The deciding factor may be whether any preteens are reading this story. With that in mind, we should restrain ourselves from detailed descriptions of certain explicit ... ummm ... activities. But I have a feeling that's not where the story is headed anyway!

It just occurred to me that I shouldn't have said "S**T" at the end of my last post. If anyone has any objections, especially the moderators let me know I'll change it.
I found a thread on ProBoards Support board that stated that a few cuss words here and there were okay. And on another thread it stated that as for posts containing "sex"... anything that is pornographic or x-rated is strictly prohibited. Basically, if a 13-year-old shouldn't read it, we can't post it. (Not even on a private board.) Also, as for "foreign language"... a sentence or two is okay, but members cannot engage in conversations using any language other than English. I think that as far as a character using another language in a story scroll, they'll be fine with it. The bard will have to translate it for the rest of us anyway.
We have a private adult MSN Group called Dreams of Illusia, for our adult members, and we have boards where members can start scrolls there. We cannot link to it, even though you have to be a member to view anything... however we have links to it at our other MSN Groups on their "Quick Links" page. Do not apply to join if you are 17 or younger. If we discover a member of the adult group to be a minor, we will ban that member from all our groups/boards.

Another thing... when we describe a room, we should repost our descriptions here for others to keep track of. So Scrappy, you need to post your vision of the waiting room/library here, please.
Thanks.
Also... we need to try and keep the floor plan as close to each others as possible... unless... maybe the rooms change... Didn't the rooms keep changing in Stephen King's Rose Red?

Ok, so I've caught myself up. So sorry for the length of the thing, but actually, it is about half as long as I entended. Running out of available word space I thought, (hey Joxie, can we have that word counter thing in this thread, or maybe, no, I'm the only one that tends to get too wordy), so I decided to break it up. Part two comes tomorrow. Take care all and sweet dreams. storage.proboards.com/893671/images/ljxEFlZASExudmonnAMT.gif[/mgi]

Hurrah, I seem to have mysteriously solved not being able to post on House of Whoosher so I've arrived... I think the problem was that I was using a really clapped out PC when I tried to post the other day, its really slow and full of rubbish, but I've got my laptop with me today and its quite new and shiny and didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Again, I apologize for my latest post being long and wordy, but once I start I can not seem to stop. Perhaps one day, I will learn to be more short and to the point.
Dixie! Glad to see you've joined the fun. Better late than never, right? Being late is something I know well. I'm rarely on time and Mom has told me for years and years, starting way back when I was a kid, that I'd be late for my own funeral. Not necessarily a bad thing, I'm thinking.

Oops, I just stepped on the tail end of Freebird's last post. Mine was written earlier tonight, and I couldn't think of an appropriate way to modify the beginning on the fly. Maybe we can consider it a parenthetical parallel to the main action sequence. (Isn't it amazing what a little desperation will inspire one to say? ;D ) ------------------------ Ideas? Phalon, can your character set fires in this realm? Joxcenia, your character is not exactly comfortable around that Guru guy. Time to ratchet up the tension level? Scrappy, this is not something I usually ask someone I've just met but... would you like to be trapped with me on the 3rd floor fighting desperately for our lives? ( ) Oh yes, I need a murder suspect. Any volunteers? And please have a business card.
