Brilliant! Awesome! Riveting!
Hey, Phalon! You hit a home run with your last post. Totally caught me by surprise ... and isn't that a good way to fire up the idea factory?
This just keeps gettin' better.

Very good everyone... now I just have to get myself out of the dark abyss and down stairs in the front hall.

Joxcee just discovered what Guru had only begun to suspect. Those passages go many places in the house. Someone else already knows that and is using them. Against us.
Be careful, Joxcee! You may not be alone...

Sheesh, Guru. She's already afraid of the dark. What are you trying to do...cause her to have a stroke?
There, there, Joxie. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel...unless someone - or something - is blocking it, of course.

Heh! I will _never_ be alone as long as I have my _wicked_ imagination!!!!

Oh thanks... as if my imagination needs any help from outsiders!

Hey all...good story, I'm hooked! As far as getting us all together goes, Scrappy I'm up for that! It seems now that Dixie, Scrappy and Freebird are in the library...and are about to exit and investigate the screaming (sorry if screaming like a girl isn't part of your process Guru... ;D), which puts them in the foyer...if Joxie is on her way to the foyer then that only leaves Guru and Phalon (assuming she's joining us)...who are together anyway, so perhaps we can all meet up without too much tweaking of the story? Joxie (the real one I'm talking to now!) I'm mortally afraid of the dark too...really. I can't be anywhere in the dark if my imagination gets going...I know its ridiculous at the age of 23 to be afraid of the dark but there you go! Yeah...its the headlights of an oncoming train...not that I'm cynical...heheh.

Hey... I'm 46 and afraid of the dark, so don't sweat it. I also have good hearing because of my blind right eye and having had to wear a patch over my good eye as a child, so I hear sounds in the dark that scare the crap out of me... sounds that no one else can hear... so I get made fun of a lot. But nothing's gotten me yet. "Yet!" screams my imagination.

There has to be a happy medium, one would think. I like the dark, although I frequently scare myself silly due to my over-active imagination. I am one of those people you will see in B-grade horror flicks who, upon hearing an eerie noise down in the cellar, goes down to investigate, and who you scream at, while watching the movie, yelling, "What the *&%$ are you doing? Get out, you stupid b*tch."

I live alone, and one of the first things I realized when I got my own place was that... it's either go investigate, or stay up all night waiting for the sun to come up. So I go investigate. Fortunately, real life is not like life in the movies... so usually the noise is a raccoon on my back porch trying to steal away with the dog's water dish. What they want with it is beyond me, but at least they lose interest in their burglarizing before they get the dish into the trees.

Unfortunately for me, more than one of my investigations turned up peeping toms. I was more than a little bit freaked. Strange, both incidents occured in different states, and I was plagued by both peepers for more than a year each. I think I must have a "Weirdo Magnet" sign attached to my back, (don't tell Hubs I said that, cuz what's that make him?).
Then again, another of my investigations involved a "demon" in the ceiling fan and a hair brush for a weapon. Don't ask.

Don't ask? Phalon, I gotta, whats the deal with the Demon and hair brush? Sorry I had to. I think the story is comming along pretty well, as for Dixie thank you for the lead. I hope it was okay what I did with it. I didn't want to use anyone's name because I didn't want to goof up again Ha Ha. I'm really sorry about that, won't let it happen again.

Well, now... ya know I gotta ask...
If I go investigating noises in the future, I may grab one of my guns, or the baseball bat from under my bed to take along with me, as I just found out I have a rapist (from Ark) living down the road from me. They did a news story on how parents needed to keep their kids safe for halloween and had a woman check out how many sex offenders were in her county... then said to visit their website where other parents could check out what houses not to visit in their counties... so I decided to see just how many there were in my county, and there are two near me. The rapist is 1 min. away, and another sex offender is just 4 minutes away. There are a total of 5 in my county... I guess I should be happy there aren't more.

Ok, ok. Just remember, I told you not to ask.
It was a dark and stormy night...not really, but it would have made for great theatrics.
Hubs was out of town on business. Pre-kids era. Settled in the bed, I looked up and to my horror saw two red eyes glaring down at me from the center of the ceiling fan above the bed. Visions of the Amityville horror scene with the red-eyed pig in the window flash through my head.
I leap out of bed, flick on the light and grab the first thing I see - a hair brush on the dresser. Standing on the bed with my deadly weapon in hand, I began alternating between poking in those little vent thingies were the blades are attached to the fan, and beating the tar out of it. Finally, satisfied that I've killed the red-eyed demon, or that it's fled in fear, I jump off the bed and turn off the lights.
Damn, once I get back in the bed again, the beady little eyes are staring at me again. I move to get out once again, keeping my eyes on the little monster. The eyes disappear. I move again. They reappear. Disappear. Reappear. It takes me a few minutes to realize I've just had a battle with the red digital lights of my clock radio reflecting on the metal of the ceiling fan.
No, I had not been drinking prior to this event, (although, maybe I should say that I had been, because who in their right mind would do such a thing?)
Actually, this is where I got the idea for the red and green "eyes" on Guru's gadget thingy in one of my posts.

You guys are soooo funny. Sorry Phalon but I just had to ask. Is there anyone out there that didn't want to ask? Jox I would be terrified that they were so close to me. I would be putting deadlocks on windows and doors, alarms and whatever else I could find, and I would sleep with a ballbat. One night I was at home and the kids were asleep and I heard a noise in the kitchen.I went to find out what it was I saw two eyes starring at me in the dark,( light from outside shinning through.) Well I picked up one of my shoes and through it at whatever it was. Suddenly I heard a crash. I forgot it was a glass statue of my husband's (at the time) I had broken. It was his favorite, I hated it and I swore I would get rid of it. I know that doesn't compare to your story but at the time it scared the heck out of me. Scrappy tell us about your jogger please, enquiering minds wanna know.lol Does anyone have anything funny like that happen to them? Do tell please..

I once lay scared rigid in my bed for 25minutes, sweating and contemplating how I was going to get away from an intruder in my bedroom, and clobber him at the same time. It was only after the aforementioned 25mins that I realised it was my dressing gown hanging from the back of the door...man, did I feel stupid...and relieved! Phalon, you are too funny! That's so the kind of thing that I would do! I once had a mirror in my bedroom that hung opposite the window...I scared myself half to death one day as I was getting ready for bed in front of the mirror and saw my own reflection reflected in the dark window behind... So... the headless jogger eh Scrappy? Do tell...

Ok.....headless jogger....... I don't remember how old I was. Pretty young I think. It was back before parents worried about you getting kidnapped if you we out by yourself. (Hoping that doesn't give my age away) I went to the local park and there was this guy lying on a park bench. Now he was laying in such a way that it caused an optical illusion, his head was covered by his arm but from where I was standing it didn't look he had one at all. It wasn't until I picked up a stick and approached him, ostensibly to poke the dead guy with the stick, that I realized he really did have a head and he wasn’t really dead just sleeping. Scared the jeepers out of me. If I recall correctly that was also the same day I saw my first male “you know what” in the same park. Now that was a scary experience! This however doesn't compare to beating up a ceiling fan or avoiding your nightdress.........too funny guys!

Good one! I'm sure you speak for many unfortunate people when you say you saw your first male 'u kno what' in the park that day...I also saw my first 'u kno what' that way...ahh, happy memories! I always make sure my bathrobe is securely tucked away at night now for fear of confusing it with an axe murderer!

ACK! I'll be ready, Scrappy. Waiting for Guru too, to explain this girlie scream thing he's got going on.
Your stories are all too funny. Dixie, I remember doing that "Is it clothes hanging in my closet, or is someone hiding in there?" thing before. You finally convince yourself that it is just clothes, and then out of the corner of your eye, you swear you see it move just a hair.
Freebird - you gave me a brilliant idea for this hideously ugly cat figurine that Hubs gave me a long time ago. For somewhere around 15 years it's been occupying one shelf or another in our house, making it through at least three moves. I hate it, (it's really ugly), but since it was a gift, I'd feel bad getting rid of it. Maybe I can just beat it to pieces, claiming it stared back at me for the last time. He'd buy it, coming from me. Have I told you how well Hubs has perfected his eye-roll technique?

Sorry if I'm dragging my feet lately ... got this other big iron in the fire. My eyes hurt from focusing on the screen so much the last couple of days, but I should be back later tonight.
That girlie scream thing threw me for a loop for a minute. Couldn't get images of Joxer out of my head! Turns out it plays directly into something I've been wanting to introduce all week.
If I get my next *@~#%$)^& post finished..

Just take your time, Guru. <tapping foot, and checking watch> We'll wait. Hope your other big iron in the fire doesn't leave you burnt out.
Been getting into character a bit today. Sheesh, cold and drizzly all morning then changing to rain with temps in the forties. I worked outside until about noon, then gave up and spent the rest of the day inside....so cold and wet. The chill never left. Expect some really drippy next couple of posts from me.

No, seriously, it wouldn't be until late tonight until I could write anything, so if the muse slaps any of you in the face, go for it.
Great job, everyone. Joxie? You still with us? You're missing one hell of a party in Guru's room.
