I just bought Women Talking at Books-a-Million.com. I have two books left in the Throne of Glass series, which should take me about a week to finish, and then if everyone is ready and has their book, we can pick the date to start reading.

My book has been shipped . . . and I'm on the last book in the Throne of Glass series. I should be finished with it this weekend or the beginning of next week.

How do you want to go about it? Read a few chapters at a time then discuss? Read half the book then discuss each half? Read the whole book before discussing?

Oh, shoot, Joxie. I didn't forget about getting "Women Talking", but it kinda got shoved to the back burner while I'm trying to get this on-line course finished for work. Could use a break on that though. I'm planning on going to the post office tomorrow morning, and the library is right there - lemme check to see if they have the book, before I order it on-line.
Don't wait on me though!

I don’t have my book yet. It’s being sent by USPS, which is usually much slower than UPS, so no idea when it will arrive. I just finished the eighth book a wee bit ago, so I’ll be ready to go when my book gets here. Or we can wait until you’re done with what you’re doing.

I still don’t have my book yet. I’ve been watching reels on Instagram, and I think we’re going to have to discuss the book a few chapters at a time. This material needs to be discussed in short reads/bursts. It’s just so much to process, and I fear forgetting or overlooking important points of discussion if we wait until the end of the book to talk about it. Your thoughts?

I got the book at the library, but I'll wait until you get yours to start. I agree discussing a few chapters at a time would be the best approach.

Two books came in the mail today, but Women Talking wasn't one of them. I'm hoping that it will arrive before the weekend. I did take a peek inside the book on Amazon's "Look Inside" option. There weren't that many chapters. I figure we can read/discuss one chapter at a time, as each seems to be a different meeting. It looks like the discussions can be a day or two apart. None of the chapters seem long enough to take more than a day to read, depending on if nothing comes up to cause a distraction.
According to Amazon:
Print length: 227 pages.
CONTENTS:
A Note on the Novel -- xi (1 page)
JUNE 6: August Epp, Before the Meeting -- xvii (22 pages) --- -- Book Discussion # 1: whooshorg.proboards.com/thread/7785/ --- JUNE 6: Minutes of the Women Talking -- 17 (114 pages) --- -- Book Discussion # 2: whooshorg.proboards.com/thread/7786/ --- JUNE 6: August Epp, At Night Between Meetings -- 131 (14 pages) --- -- Book Discussion # 3: whooshorg.proboards.com/thread/7787/ --- JUNE 7: Minutes of the Women Talking -- 145 (58 pages) --- -- Book Discussion # 4: whooshorg.proboards.com/thread/7788/ --- JUNE 7: August Epp, After the Meeting -- 203 (14 pages) --- -- Book Discussion #5: whooshorg.proboards.com/thread/7789/ ---

Okay. I created a thread for each chapter discussion. They are locked at the moment, but will be unlocked just before time to read and discuss each chapter.

My book arrived in today’s mail. So we can start now, I guess. I’ve never had a library card, so I’m not sure how long people are allowed to keep the books. But as this book is a short read, that probably won’t be a problem.
I’m only going to read a chapter at a time. That way I won’t bring future chapter information into the chapter we’re discussing.

I’m going to save the reader’s guide thread for last. I’ll unlock it once we read and discuss every chapter. Then we can go through and discuss the thoughts and questions in that thread. Can even add other reader guides to the thread.

Sounds as if you've got everything set and ready to go, Joxie. I haven't started reading yet, but will read the first chapter tonight, unless you've got something else going. I have to catch up on my on-line class; I kind of put it off last week with everything going on with Quetta, but that shouldn't take too long. I should be ready to discuss chapter one tomorrow night, or (more likely) the following day.
It's due on February 4th, but I can always renew if we take longer. You know how long we've taken with these book discussions in the past!!!

I have nothing keeping me from reading and discussing the book. A day or two to ponder a chapter seems like a good idea. Sort of why I locked the threads. So that there wouldn’t be any pressure to rush through each discussion. I haven’t read anything yet, as I was waiting to see if you wanted to wait until next week.
I think I shall keep a journal to jot down things I don’t want to forget. There are only two chapters that are long, although I have read that many pages in a day many times. And hopefully you’ll be done with your course by the time we get to them, if not we can break the chapters up over a day or so if need be. So, we will just discuss each chapter for as long as we have something to say, and then I’ll open the next thread for the next chapter discussion.

Though I haven't been posting in the discussions, just wanted to let you know, Joxie, I have been reading, I will get around to posting, eventually.

No Worries. I probably should have waited until you had the time to participate. I can reread each chapter if need be once you have the time to chat.
I need to start working on my taxes, so I haven't started a new book yet.
