I liked DD1 and sincerely hope this doesn't turn out to be another "woke" movie. I've given up on going to the movies.

From what I've read, they aren't going to replace Patrick. It will be "Baby" going back to the resort where she met Johnny. While there she will come across another couple coming together. So, my guess is that Baby will be a widow, and she'll help the young couple work through their difference in status so that they too can go on to romantic bliss.  If it's the original PTB behind it, my guess is it will be a good movie. It also will be a sad, bittersweet movie. Kind of a final send off to Patrick, and to Baby & Johnny's love story.  I'm excited at the moment. Whether I stay excited will be determined by whatever news I hear coming out about the production process along the way.

I could get behind that idea - it sounds like a good idea for the follow up. Anything else would pretty much be a remake of the original.

They did do a TV Movie remake. I didn't watch it, and I later learned that was the best decision. I did watch a few clips on YouTube, which also confirmed not watching was the right choice.
