NBC's supernatural hit drama, "Medium" will air on Wednesday nights for its third season. Glenn Gordon Caron is the creator and executive director of the show. Patricia Arquette plays the lead role as Allison Dubois in the fact-based series. The two took time out of their busy schedules to talk to the press about the upcoming episode that will air on November 15 from 9 to 11 pm.
The two hour season premiere is titled "Four Dreams." Arquette's real-life husband, Thomas Jane will have a guest appearance in the episode as Clay Bicks, Allison's old lover. This is the first time Arquette and her husband have collaborated and appeared together on a television show. Watching her TV husband, Jake Weber as Joe, and her real-life husband portray their roles in the storyline was exciting and interesting to the actress. It was a unique experience for her to see how Jane reacted at work compared to his personal life off screen.
Glenn said, "I hope I'm not violating a confidence, but I will confess that we were halfway through shooting the episode when Jake came to me and confessed that he was very uncomfortable with the idea that Patricia's real husband was on the set and vying for her affection within the context of the story. It made him peculiarly uncomfortable. I think the word he used was jealous—really jealous." He laughs.
The new season will reach a broad audience with something for everyone. "Medium" doesn't fit into just one category according to Patricia Arquette. "I think it is a smorgasbord of a show... We have all done straight one genre or another whether it's comedy or horror or whatever we've done. It's always fun to mix it up because you just otherwise get sick of it... This has been many years on a project so you have got to have a lot to explore."
Glenn Gordon Caron is constantly striving to keep "Medium" as diverse as possible. He has a variety of tricks up his sleeve for future shows. The executive director has the philosophy that chances are if he sees and/or creates an episode that he finds amusing, exciting, and engaging, the viewing audience will see it that way too. 3D and more animation is something Glenn Gordon Caron plans to pursue for future shows. He may also bring back actors from previous episodes for special appearances. It will be exciting for viewers to see what happens next.
