( LOST SEASON 1 )
September 22, 2004: Pilot Episode: A survivor saga stranding 48 plane-crash passengers on a Pacific isle bedeviled by a monstrous predator. In the two-part opener, an MD (Matthew Fox) takes charge.
September 29, 2004: Pilot Episode, Part 2: Suspense mounts in the pilot's conclusion, which charts an adventurous foray into the isle's heights; and the lifesaving efforts of a beleaguered MD.
October 6, 2004: Tabula Rasa: Flashbacks recall Kate's troubled past as a fugitive, a secret uncovered by Jack while caring for a critically injured U.S. marshal who had Kate in custody.
October 13, 2004: Walkabout: A hunt for boar to feed the starving survivors also brings a revelation about the loner named Locke (Terry O'Quinn), who confronts a terrifying behemoth roaming the jungle. Elsewhere, the fuselage is turned into a funeral pyre that falls prey to scavengers.
October 20, 2004: White Rabbit: Leadership fears plague Jack, who's also tested by recollections of a troubled youth and exacting parents (Veronica Hamel, John Terry) that he flashes back to during a surrealistic jungle trek.
October 27, 2004: House of the Rising Sun: Relocation sparks dissension among the ranks. One group, spearheaded by Jack, seeks a water-plentiful, inland retreat; another group, led by Kate, opts for rescue on the beach. Also, a culture clash turns violent for Michael and Jin; a separate peace bonds Charlie and Locke.
November 3, 2004: The Moth: A cave-in entraps Jack, whose life hinges on a rescue mission led by Charlie, shaky from drug withdrawal and haunted by memories of his similarly addicted brother (Neil Hopkins). Another plot concerns a radio SOS by Sayid that's strangely thwarted.
November 10, 2004: Confidence Man: Profiling enigmatic Sawyer in telling flashbacks to his criminal past and troubled youth; and in violent confrontations with Jack and Sayid, who are convinced that Sawyer's a spiteful sleaze who's withholding medication from Shannon.
November 17, 2004: Solitary: The survivors are not alone. Sayid is taken captive by a long-time strandee: an armed and cryptic French woman (Mira Furlan), who's alternately violent and sympathetic. The ordeal triggers painful memories for Sayid, who recalls his past as an interrogator.
December 1, 2004: Raised by Another: Claire's nightmares trigger flashbacks to her split from the father of her unborn child and meetings with a scary psychic, warning of the baby's dire fate.
December 8, 2004: All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues: While in search of the missing Charlie and Claire, Jack must deal with the jarring memories of his relationship with his alcoholic father, who, like Claire, he sought to save.
January 5, 2005: Whatever the Case May Be: Mysteries surround Kate, embattled with Sawyer over an impenetrable, salvaged briefcase, which apparently contains something (or things) known only to her. A backstory centers on Kate's troubled past, and her ties to criminals and violence.
January 12, 2005: Hearts and Minds: A strange unearthed discovery rattles Boone, whose dark past is revealed in a shocking backstory that recalls his life with Shannon and presages the return of the beast. Another revelation concerns soft-spoken Sun, who becomes a confidante of Kate.
January 19, 2005: Special: Fatherhood tests Michael, who is desperate for the affection of his 10-year-old son, Walt, and whose backstory reveals turmoil, tragedy and a chilling confidence regarding Walt, that "when [he's] around, things happen."
February 9, 2005: Homecoming: The search is on for Ethan, the crazed jungle denizen who let Claire escape from him and now wants her back... or else. The manhunt's driven by Charlie, guilt-ridden by memories of another woman he let down that are recalled in telling flashbacks.
February 16, 2005: Outlaws: Details of Sawyer's troubled past surface in flashbacks focusing on a sleazy con artist (Robert Patrick, The X-Files) that are interwoven with Sawyer's hunt for a boar. Kate accompanies him on the search for a creature he believes has it in for him.
February 23, 2005: ... in Translation: There are no polar bears on the prowl tonight. Nor does any other crazed creature — human or otherwise — emerge from the jungle. This episode is purely and simply about the survivors' seething emotions: their wraths, dreads, suspicions and recriminations. The plot centers on the mysterious burning of Michael's raft, a catastrophe he blames on Jin, an enemy from Day 1. Jin's subsequent interrogation is framed by more on his backstory: revelations of a troubled relationship with his wife, Sun, and her despotic father.
March 2, 2005: Numbers: A jungle trek obsesses Hurley, and endangers a few others, when he goes after the elusive Rousseau and the secret to numbers on her map... which are very familiar to him.
