Baseball can't topple 'Lost' on Wed.
The Houston Astros may have scored their first World Series berth in the 43-year history of the ball club, but the game still didn't bring in as many fans as the turnout in primetime Wednesday for ABC's "Lost." ABC's 9 p.m. monster led the network to victory for the night in the adults 18-49 demographic and total viewers. "Lost" reeled in 20.7 million viewers and 8.9 rating/21 share in adults 18-49, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. CBS' new drama "Criminal Minds" (12.4 million, 3.8/9) held up pretty well against "Lost" and baseball competition; NBC's "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" (6.8 million, 2.7/6) remained a distant fourth in the time slot. The presence of baseball in the 10 p.m. hour on Fox seemed to put a dent in the viewership for all three competing drama series, ABC's "Invasion" (11.5 million, 4.8/12), CBS' "CSI: NY" (13.7 million, 4.6/12) and NBC's "Law & Order."
