I don't know, those pies could be pretty good for diplomacy. All the nations' leaders might try cozying up to Phalon to try and find out her secret ingredient.

Phalon was that you I heard talking smack about YooHoo! Wow, I thought you were my friend. Just for that I have to tell you Blueberries are not a fav of mine, so you can keep your stinkin pie! JK with ya friend. You seem to be keeping quite busy. I know that you probably had to do something to keep your mind off of your company leaving. I figure they were pretty cool people and you wish they could have stayed longer, but don't worry they will be back.
This seminar your spoke at...was it for the elementary kids again...did you tell them the Mushroom Man joke? I know that one is always a big hit with you.
Seems like everyone is keeping busy this time of the year. Lots to do. I on the other hand haven't been doing a whole lot of nuttin. Enjoying the rain so nicely shared by Charley and Bonnie. I actually sat in my car for 15 minutes today before I could get out to come in to work. It was raining so hard and I had no umbrella to cover my nicely tossed hairdoo. Not to mention the white blouse I was wearing doesn't go well with water spots. I fear we may be in for a wee bit more of the wet stuff before our lands dry here in the South. Maybe Phalon you could let us borrow your Dingy. I have some experience driving them you know. I can make a mean sharp right and never even make a wake. Now that my friend is skill.
Okie dokes so I have rattled on enough for one day. I am off now to see if anyone has made some coffee for today since Erco neglects here duties on a regular basis now.
Peace Out my friends...~XG

Good afternoon!
Thanks XG for reminding me how slack I am. My only excuse today is that it took me this long to wade my way in here. I can only tread water so long. Lots and lots of rain today, courtesy of Bonnie and Charlie. Tornado warnings are already being issued in surrounding counties. Time to batten down the hatches.
How about Xie and anyone else in F.L.? Hope you all survive the great merger of the love birds. Looks like there will be a marriage ceremony in Florida with the honeymoon extending into NC.
I guess Bonnie and Charley have their own "meet up" scheduled.
Phalon, I did not realize you were giving your speech to children. That does not bode well with my unwarranted advice of envisioning someone in the crowd being naked, to get over your nervousness. Yikes!
Hope you all have a nice day. Don't forget the umbrella!

Hello Taverners. Gams told me to come in and catch up on the pie eaters.
Hello all.
Nice flowers Erco.
Hello Speat Pea. Yes, it is nice to have cool house guests. They didn't drink all your beer, then? Lounge all over the furniture?
Okay, hope you are all doing well.

Sheesh, I walk out of here for a day and when I come back I find I'm politicing with pies, imagining people naked, talking smack, and loaning out my dinghy...
Gig and Scrappy - I do practice pie worship, and therefore will have to leave them out of the political arena. Pieligion and politics are a bad mix. Leaves a foul taste in my mouth.
Sweet Pea. No children at this class, (just judging from all the blue hair waving in the crowd). And yes, surely you can borrow the dinghy, if you promise there will not be a drop of Yoo-Hoo drunk on board. The coast guard will get you for drinking and driving, you know. As well as causing wake.
Eroc. I did not imagine anyone naked. (See blue-haired comment above. Now THAT is a scary thought).
Hello there, G-stick. Take care you east coasters. Goodnight, all.

Cripes, pie talk and it took me days to notice it. That has to be the most incredible sounding pie Ive ever heard of. Or maybe it's just that Ive been eating out of boxes and cans for the last 2 weeks. I hate shopping for myself. I suck at it. Perhaps some can remember the horrible day that I bought 15 dollars worth of beverages and nothing else.
Anyway, I want this pie. Can I get one in the mail from these people? Where did you say you got it again Phalon?
Oh, and hope everyone's having a swell week. Friday now eh?

Dobs, it is the most incredible pie - ever. I'll ship some out tomorrow. What's your address again? How's that paranoia doing?
Xengab - sounds like a great day with your granddaughter. Museums are always fun - even those little small town ones that are just a collection of odds and ends of things donated, (sometimes those are the most fun). What kind of museum was it?
I'll join you for a drink, (skipping the coffee, though. Way, way too much the last couple of days). Dobs is buying. She's still got some of that fifteen dollars worth of drinks to use up.
Festival weekend in town. I can hear the music from the stage at the marina now. Some rock-a-billy type band, I think, and we skipped it. Morning will be spent selling more Girl Scout cookies, (sheesh, will this never end?). Then hurry to get Little Xena to the parade start, where she will have to walk four miles. We will watch and cheer her from the sidelines, as well as cheering for the police cars, fire trucks, middle and highschool bands, the Shriners riding those teeny motorcycles and the Dirty Women Line Dancers. Gotta love small town parades.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Hobs-Please, have some of that pie. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Phalon- maybe you should post your pie recipe under the "will religion effect the 2004 vote" thread. Sorry I don't know how to do that instant link thingy.

Hi everyone
<trundles in with suitcase> have been away working at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for 2 weeks doing a play...no internet...aargh! Safe blessings to everyone in FL....and I thought the weather was horrible in Scotland!
What's everyone up to? I'm on a break at work, this week we are mostly having a summer school for deaf and hearing kids to teach them about theatre and help them put on a show at the end of it. Very rewarding...but tiring too.
Any chance of a rasberry iced tea?

I have a feeling this is a big hot spot during break at work, or in my case, all hours of work. Anything to stave off boredom. I cant count how many different topics Ive researched on the clock. There's just something about working at a desk that simultaneously sucks away my work ethic and my soul.

Yeees, I was a little perturbed about the lack of internet, but I lived! The kids I'm working with are 13 - 18 year olds, and there are some pretty difficult characters in there! I don't sign and its amazing how hard it is to communicate with the hearing impaired kids through the interpretor...its made me think about learning to sign for next year. Thanks for the welcome back...hope to be dropping in lots more now! dixie

I've thought about learning sign language quite a few times myself. I know a couple of deaf people who I have trouble understanding, and have met others in the past, and I think learning sign language would make it easier on both myself and them. I know a few words - mother, father, baby, thank you, love, flower, stuff like that - but it's not enough for even a passing conversation. What makes it hard to communicate through an interpreter? Is it the particular interpreter? I find that it helps if the interpreter understands the meaning of what they're interpreting, but I guess if the interpreter knew enough to teach them, they would be the teacher and not the interpreter, so I probably just answered my own question.

Hello Xengab, Dobs, Eirene, Dixie, Gig and anyone else who happens to wander in.
Dobs - when does school start for you again, and have you made the move yet?
Oh yes, Xengab. A great festival weekend...lots of food, music and such. A real good time, but this year kinda missing something. Every year since we've lived here, friends from Kentucky have made their way up to spend the weekend with us during Blueberry fest. This year though, comflicting work schedules, couple with the fact their daughter had to go back to school today, and they just couldn't make the trip, (though they are planning on next month). Hubs and I didn't even make one single batch of blueberry jello shots. Dang. Had fun anyway.
And your museum sounds like the kind I could spend hours in with Little Xena. Baby Phalon? I'd probably have to do a bit too much shushing.
The play sounds neat, Dixie, (may I call you that?). Is it work related? And the summer school...I think that working with 13-18 year olds would be pretty difficult, communication barrier or no. Teenagers - sheesh.

Exsqueeze me Phalon. I'm still a teenager until next month so watch that pie hole of yours.
School starts up again on the 2nd of september. Wheeehooo. Blech. I havent been well rested all summer. It's been fun though.
I'm all moved into the new place. 4 BR, 1 Bath with dolphin decor (good god), noisy little kids downstairs, drag races in front of our house, gross carpet on the stairs, and I love every minute of it. I have the greatest roommates and best of all no one has any kind of power over me aside from the landlord, the phone company, the local police, and my mother when she unexpectedly drops by. My stepdad wrote threatening messages on the mail they dropped off but at least he doesnt have a key. This is my first place that's only me and my peers. Last year I lived alone part of the time but it wasnt my place, and living on someones couch is different too. I even have internet access again.

Sheesh...See what I mean about teenagers. "Shut your pie-hole. How many times have I told you, Dobs...<shakes head> No respect at all.
I'm glad to hear that you're so having so much fun now. Smile. Great, after that bit of stress-filled times last year. Enjoy.
Eirene, the nursery that I work at is typically the slowest during the period between mid-July and mid-August, then we usually pick-up again and get very busy in fall. I suppose it's usually because who the heck wants to work in the garden, plant, and struggle to keep things alive in what is typically 90 degree heat and drought conditions. This year though, we have been unusually cool - average only in the mid-seventies, and an adequate amount of rain. Good for the nursery business, but not so good for the farmers. Entire crops ruined by the cooler, wet weather.
My day off tomorrow. I'll get the coffee ready.

Go ahead and call me Dixie, Phalon. Yes the summer school is part of my job at the theatre. We do it every year in conjunction with the National Deaf Children's Association and hearing impaired kids from all over the country come to it because its quite an enterprising venture. This is the first year I have worked on it and I hope to be here still next year to do it again. I find talking through the interpreter limiting as its like having a middle-man (or person!) so you can't be as spontaneous or free with what you're saying because someone has to speak your words for you, its strange having someone listen to all your conversations I suppose. You also don't get eye contact as the person you're talking to is, in effect listening to someone else. Am I rambling on... Its like going to a foreign country and not speaking the language, so perhaps I'll learn for next time. Today I'm boiling to death as its ridiculously hot...where's all that typical British rain when you need it...and I'm stuck in a darkened theatre with no air con... On the upside I've been really unwell the last couple of days and now I'm feeling better See y'all later
