What I do? Hmmmm... let's see.... I take a bambus stick put him in the pot to the plant and then I bind the plant high onit. That's 'cause the plants have to grow straight. That do I with 14000 plants at least 3 - 4 times. Bushes, trees, hedera, vitus and so on, and so on...Then they're ready for selling. Now at the moment I'm busy with the wine ( vitus ) ... Why I do that alone? 'cause I'm the only one who can work in a gardenhouse at this temperatures, I can work alone for months without getting insane, and the others don't have the patience to do such things. I hope I could explaine it a little bit... Have a nice day!!!

Some people really hate solitude. I think they fear being alone with their thoughts and finding out they don't know themselves very well. Either that or they fear finding out they don't like themselves very much.

Marysgurl, sorry to hear about your latest set-back with your hand. Dang, that's gotta be awful. Hoping things go well at the doctor's office, (and that you don't have to spend too much time there).
Xengab, your garden sounds wonderful. Mine is in that mid-summer state; between the early summer flush of color and late summer blooms, where everything seems to be at a stand-still. Only my Fairy Roses, cone flowers, filipendula and various varieties of daylilies are blooming. I don't do annuals either, (the squirrels always dig them up), except in my flower boxes - which are a riot of color - like confettii. I like lots of color.
I just started a book given to me by a friend titled "The Living Garden". It's the 400 year history of an English Garden, starting from the time it was just a small patch of medicinal herbs to a big English Manor garden. A fun, easy read....informative and entertaining so far.
Eirene - I like the solitude too that my job sometimes allows. Do some of my best thinking then - working out posts for the stories I participate on this board. But the cool thing about my job is that I'm rarely told what to do, - a big enough place that there is always something different to keep me occupied depending on my mood, (aside from helping the customers, of course, which is my main responsibility). While working alone sometimes is where I'd rather be; most times I prefer to work with others. We all get along great - some of us really good friends - and working along side one another is part of what makes the job so enjoyable.
Later all. Enjoy your Monday.

hello all spent most of the morning at the doc's office....no infection ....the swelling seems to be from me be too over-zealous in my rehab... ...."do this, do that" "don't do this, don't do that"....whatever.... I never saw squirrels ravage plants the way they did the girls' flower pots that they planted us for mother's day....all that's left are the coleus (which i love) every other plant has been chewed down to the nub....of course the lady across the street feeds them every morning on her front porch, so now you have to practically kick them from under your feet....they come & practically knock on the storm door for food (since the plants are all gone now) anyway, everyone else having a good monday?? peace & luv

Yeah, it's great to work alone. But then, 10 hours are enough to work alone per day. Then I'm happy when I can go at home and talk with my family... Oh my boys have their holidays - school is off for six weeks! And I've to work 10 days yet and then I ve three weeks off. BTW, Phalon when I work alone I start to play with words too. So comes a lot of poems, ballads and so on in my mind. That's where great literature comes from - from solitude working...

Glad to hear there's no infection, but Whoa...take it easy there, Marysgurl. No need to push so hard with the physical therapy, is there. I'm sure you are soooo ready for this to be done, but do what the doctor says.
Ok - that was my mom talk for now.
The squirrels are the bane of my gardening existence. They are everywhere - dig up everthing. They never eat it - just leave it sprewn across the yard, and sit there laughing I'm sure, as they watch me replant and replant and replant. Pfft. Some things - like bulbs, I actually nail mesh over into the ground to prevent them from constantly digging. I like to watch them bash their heads into the squirrel baffle thing I put on the bird feeder though. Just a little bit of pay-back.
Sometimes, Eirene, I think I've got everything down in my head - what I want to write - but when I get time to actually write it, the words don't come like I'd like. I know people who carry around a notebook for this reason, and some have suggested I do the same. I don't; just me the plants and my pruners....no pen or paper in sight. There are times though, when I'm out working alone, when I get something just right; the words so perfectly set in my head just the way I want them, that I'll hop on the Gator, drive all the way back to the office just to jot it down before I forget.

Hey Phalon... ever thought about using a tape recorder? I've been toying with the idea of getting one to try out.

LMAO, Joxie. No, no, no...you are supposed to talk sweet things to the plants to make them grow. I'm sure they'd all groan and croak hearing tales of ancient Greek sword swinging mystics hanging out in haunted house, or doing whatever it is I've stuck Phalon with doing. I'll just keep that to myself and spare the poor things. They've got enough to worry about with the drought we are experiencing.

Maybe the plants might like some adventure, since they can't go anywhere without help.

Ahhh, Phalons infamous no, no no. You simply have not lived till you have gotten one of those, Joxie. I have lived several times over, haven't I Phalon? It has been so very humid and hot in the south that the idea of yard work couldn't be more unappealing. We have not been short on rain though. Because of this, the weeds are taking off and it is just too dang hot to attack them. The low at night is still around 80 so evening work isn't really an option. Eirene, for the most part I work alone too and have come to enjoy it. Where I work, our employee base is made up of sales and service staff who are out all day. However, I do fondly remember the days when I worked with an office full of people, where we entertained each other all day. Marysgurl, koodos for you on jumping into physical therapy (just don't hurt yourself). I have had surgery on both my knees and tell anyone I know with upcoming surgery to go into it knowing that the more persistant you are with therapy, the quicker your recovery. Xengab, glad you are doing well. Gardening is good therapy. I was never much of a yard person until a divorce many years ago, and I ended up finding much solice in working out in the yard. Hope everyone has a nice week and stay cool. The sun is shining!

Morning all. Dang, it sounds like it is miserablely hot all around. Isn't there anywhere that is experiencing comfortable temperatures? How about you all over in Europe? Eroc - send some of that rain this way, please. I'm tired of looking at brown. No fun going barefoot when the grass is crunchy and crispy. Kinda hurts, actually.
More nineties on tap for the rest of the week. Way, way unseasonable....it just isn't supposed to be that hot here for this long; maybe for a week in August usually, but that is it. Walking down by the beach the other evening, and there was a least a breeze off the lake. Damn - that felt good.
Never too hot for coffee though, (at least not for me), so I'll start the pot for whoever comes in.
Enjoy the day.

Yep, of course. Half and half and whatever else you please in your coffee.
Hubs doesn't have to be back to work until Friday: a bit of a break after his travels. It worked out nice; he being able to be home while LX is recooperating. It gives BP a nice break too. Instead of being stuck inside all day while her sister is sleeping it off; she's able to get outside and wear off some of that 4 year old energy that is always seems to be in endless supply.
Unfortunately, today is worse than last night for LX. It really hurts, she says. Ate well yesterday evening, chatted on the phone with well-wishers and even yelled at her sister a couple of times. Did I say I thought it'd be quiet around here for a couple days? What the hell was I thinking?
Yeah - I don't visit the movie thread often; not watching a great deal of movies. I couldn't even tell you the last one I watched. It was in the winter months, I think, before I went back to work. And at the theater? Heck, aside from taking the girls to movies, I think it's probably been 10 years or so since Hubs and I have been to the movies.
But hhmmmm....what black and whites would I have mentioned? Meet Me In St. Louis is a favorite, as well as Arsenic and Old Lace.
Which reminds me....every year our town puts on a play in the great old theater in what is now the upper elementary school. Over a hundred years old and the theater is really a showplace. Unfortunately - in the name of progress - it will be torn down shortly. The last production is to be "Arsenic and Old Lace" in a couple of weeks, and I need to get tickets and line up a babysitter. I even bought a dress - a casual thing - the other day for the occasion. I think Hubs and I will make one of those rare times out alone out of the evening.
Later, all.

Yes, now that you mention it, I can see the colors in the trolley scene in the beginning. It's been a long time since I've watched it - a couple of years - and should watch again. A nice one to watch with the girls - LX really liked it the first time she saw.
I couldn't find it at the video store either, (ours has a "classic section" that is really lacking), or the library. A friend though, is a huge Judy Garland fan, and has it in his collection. I'd borrow, but first I think I should watch "Molan Rouge" which I have of his.....and uhm...have had since the beginning of last winter.
I'll start the coffee for whoever wants. Oh, and some blueberry coffee-cake too, (don't fret - I didn't bake it).
Good day to all. Keep cool.

Hi everyone.I have not been on line for some days,as my phone was out of order.Would you believe,it took them from sunday to thursday to come and fix it. Today I have been a brave girl and cleared my garden shed out.I HATE spiders and theyre webs.Sitting here, thinkig about it,still makes me cringe.Still,I have done it now,so I deserve a treat.Phalon, your blueberry-coffee cake and coffee sounds just right for that, thank you.

Tuffy , if you hate spiders and their webs sooo much - you should take yourself a gardener to clean up your garden. Then you don't have to sit around to cringe about it. The gardener comes, make it for you, and then the gardener goes again. You know, what I mean??

Is that an offer? You know, you should NEVER ask a german to drink a coffee with her/him, if you don't want to face the consequences - 'cause THAT means something complete difference as you might be thinking.... and you should NEVER make that offer for bed and breakfast ( I think you've there a few hotels which do so ) 'cause that means in german... you can guess by your own what it means... So have a nice day!!!
