Thanks, Phalon. Just call me Grinch. (or Scrooge.)
I can't believe I haven't gone 'bah humbug' on the boards before. I thought I had.

Birmingham's Christmas tree burnt down. Thieves. Pity it didn't fall on them. Christmas has always been a hard time for me, too, Mia. I love the whole season. But once the big day arrives, and I feel it passing, it's terribly depressing. I'm usually on the verge of tears the whole day. Miserable. My sis feels the same way. We usually go for a drive on Christmas afternoon so we can have a cry.

Some years are better/worse than others. (This seems to be a bad/worse one. Not sure why.)
The older I get the more I seem to gravitate toward the negative. The bad memories have a better hold than the good memories. I try to rack my brain for the good memories, but the bad ones crowd them out. And I used to be such an optimist in my youth. Pessimism seems to be winning out in my old age.

Out with old. In with new. "We" - whooshites - being the new of course. We can't change what was, but we are here for you now. Develop amnesia and then start fresh. I'm sure Phalon's already passed off the fruitcake, but you can have a nice big chunk of it when it comes back around. That'll distract you for a while if nothing else will.

Blabbing does help heal old wounds.
Or it seems to. I beat myself up for opening up, but it does tend to release the pain and free up space for better fillings. Weird that. I guess 'getting it out' for all to read/hear helps me to realize what a waste of time holding on to all that BS really is.
I always thought 'therapy' was a waste of time, and full of crap ... but there might be something to it. Maybe I'll try it when the price drops.

Walmart! They've always got falling prices!
Of course, a visit to Walmart could be the cause of many people needing therapy in the first place.

WalMart's the only place I shop. (Pretty much. Sometimes I shop at other stores, but rarely.)

It's rare that I visit Wal-Mart. I don't like sending all of our cash to foreign countries for A-gas, and B-just about every other darned thing I need. Wal-Mart tends to have the cheapest prices, but they also carry a lot of stuff from China who is the worlds most substantial purveyor of cyber spying. Yes, China also purchased a lot of the US debt. I'd rather keep the $$ here and tell them to keep their viruses to themselves.

Someone should rewrite the lyric to "The Boys Are Back In Town." Hey. That might make for a fun thread.

I saw a video parody the other day that said the four saddest words in a Michigander's vocabulary are:
"I'm a Lions' fan."
To make the six word quota, I'll add "Go Bears."
Chicago is closer than Detroit anyway.

Don't call 911 ... don't have GPS.
Before going home, the nurse gave various instructions on what to do if this or that happened. Later that evening Mom was reading over the printed instruction to someone over the phone and I corrected her. You call 911, not 'get to the hospital asap' ... and she informed me that if I had a scanner radio like she did, I'd know that the ambulance gets lost the majority of the time and has to keep requesting directions. It'd just be faster to hop in the car and race to the hospital ourselves. I told her I'd only need to go so far as the ambulance station, which is on the way, and tell them to finish taking her the rest of the way.
I'm surprised that those with scanner radios haven't gotten together to collect money for GPS devices for all the ambulances.
