Well we [ the Mighty Cats ] have started the season in shaky fashion, losing two of our first three games today is our first home match and the unfurling of last years Premiership flag, which should inspire the boys to give the Tigers a right royal flogging. Starts shortly so I'm outta here, be back with the good news ASAP. Go Cats.

Thanks Gams, big hugs back atcha. Missed you and the others as well, which is entirely my own fault.
Good news is the Cats won, bad news is we played terribly and if not for the weak opposition would have suffered our third loss.
Hopefully things will start to pick up with a few injured players set to return, one can but hope.
Go Cats.

I'm expecting a big collective crossing of fingers lads and ladettes, big game tonight, and by big I mean HUGE.
Seven weeks into the season and we've lost three games, which is as many as we lost for the entire season last year.
Playing the Pies tonight, the mob we knocked off in last years Grand Final, and really need a win to get us back on track; lose and I fear it may be the beginning of the end of this astounding chapter in our history.
But that ain't gonna happen ........................ hopefully.
Go Cats.

Oops. Almost forgot before I ran out the door for work. Fingers are crossed, Katina. Go Cats. Thanks Gams, knew I could count on you. Hi Katina, aka, Katman, aka, Kat, Um, er, who are the Cats? And what do they do to beat Pies?? yours in confusion, scamp Hi Scamp, nice to see a new face here. As for my name, any of the above will do, although I also answer to "hey you" "old git" or several others that I won't mention on a family board like this. Right, let's see if we can unconfuse ya a bit. The Cats are the greatest team in the greatest sport in the world [ I'm a little biased ] namely the Australian Football League, or AFL for short. Geelong, known as The Cats, beat Collingwood, known as the Magpies, in last years Grand Final, which I guess is equivalent to your Superbowl [ presuming you're from the U.S of A ] This will probably tell you anything you may want to know [ or may not want to know ] .. ........................ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Football_LeagueNow that I've converted you to the greatest game in the world can I interest you in becoming an honourary member of the greatest team in that game? Once again, nice to have you in our little community.

Now that I've converted you to the greatest game in the world can I interest you in becoming an honourary member of the greatest team in that game? Once again, nice to have you in our little community. Katina, membership would be a high honor indeed! Way back when ESPN got started on cable, I watched a fair amount of Aussie football, though I never completely understood its rules (no wikipedia back then). And thanks for the warm welcome! scamp Go Cats!

Kat! Good to see you. I would never call you an "old git" (LOL)..... to your face. Just kidding! In order to be a true fan, Scamp, you will need Kat's primer on the game. I still laugh, just thinking of it. We need to find that again, Kat, and re-post it. It needs to be an annual post. GoooooOOOOOOO, CATS!!! My OU softball gals play in the NCAA Regional Friday against perennial favorite, Arizona. But the Sooners are playing on their home field, are hitting like crazy, and have one of the nation's great pitcher/hitters, Keilani Ricketts. Fingers crossed that they get it done this year. It's been far too long since they've hung a National Championship banner on the wall.

Keeping fingers crossed for both the Cats and the Sooners.

So far, so good for the Sooners, who are ONE GAME AWAY from the Women's College World Series! They spanked Arizona yesterday 6-0 in game one of that best-of-three series. If they win today, it's on to the Big Dance!
Thank you for the good wishes, guys!

Right Scamp, consider yourself a bona fide member then, with all the accompanying perks and privileges, starting with ................ a signed 2011 Premiership jumper. Apart from not understanding the rules that well, what did you think of the game? Kat, what a neat sweater/jumper! Thanks! <does happy dance> Actually, I really enjoyed your (now mine, too) footie. The length of many of the kicks is amazing; the players' control of the bounce while hand carrying was cool and obviously quite a skill. What I still don't get is why one would purposely go for a behind. Help? Please? scamp Go Cats!!

If they win today, it's on to the Big Dance! So ................... Siren I hope your silence means you've been busy celebrating and not, naw won't even go there. Kat, what a neat sweater/jumper! Thanks! <does happy dance> No probs Scamp. Actually, I really enjoyed your (now mine, too) footie. The length of many of the kicks is amazing; the players' control of the bounce while hand carrying was cool and obviously quite a skill. What I still don't get is why one would purposely go for a behind. Help? Please? scamp Go Cats!! Could you expand a little on that Scamp, a lot of behinds are kicked while attempting a goal but missing, though players don't purposely go for the behind. Unless you mean in defence, where a defender will rush the ball through the oppositions goals for a behind to prevent a possible goal being kicked. Go Cats. Won on the weekend, now stand at five/four and just outside the top eight on percentage.

Is this what you meant by "behind"? I can totally understand someone going for that behind! No? Oh, sorry, my mistake. Never fear, Kat - the Sooner gals won!! Behind marvelous Keilani Ricketts, who threw NINE CONSECUTIVE strikeouts, and hit 2 for 3, it's on to the Big Dance!! Now, we need those Cats to keep on keepin' on!

Ooo, thanks for that, Q! Indeed, Ricketts is extraordinary. And she's only a junior!! (Means she still has one year of school left, kat.) In fact, only one player in OU's starting lineup won't be back next year.
The Big Dance is just another name for the Women's College World Series, the national championship tournament, kat. The top teams from each area of the country play their way in through regional tournaments, then play in Oklahoma City for the championship. OU has already mowed down some of the perennial favorites, like Arizona and California. They need just one more win in two games to reach the finals. I. Am. So. Excited!!!!
Not sure if I will attend the games tomorrow, Q. As amazing as it would be to be there, I will probably watch it at home with my dad. Softball is something he and I share an interest in.
It's a good time to be a Sooner! And to be an out-of-state Sooner fan. I have been getting excited text messages from Lola, who is just as stoked as I am.
Cross your fingers and toes, chakamigos!

Thank you, Step! A Texas sports buddy of mine thinks Texas is getting a new coach. We shall see. The Sooners did it! They beat out Arizona State, are now headed to the finals, a best of three series which starts tomorrow night. Their opponent is Alabama, who has been a national contender for the last several years now. They are ticked off that they have come close, and not won. So they certainly won't make it easy for the Sooners. Two really good teams will be duking it out. My fingers and webbed toes are crossed! Here's a recap of today's game, if you're interested: www.soonersports.com/sports/w-softbl/recaps/060312aac.htmlHere in basketball's off-season, Coach Coale has more time for updating her blog. I'm telling you, that gal is gonna write a heck of a book one day. Here's her latest blog post: www.soonersports.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/060312aaa.html

Holy cow, guys, the Sooners are one win away from a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!! They bulldozed Alabama tonight, 4-1. Ricketts, our amazing National Player Of The Year pitcher, is not only getting it done on the mound, but at the plate, too. She is hitting just about as well as she throws, which is a BIG compliment.
Good golly, y'all - ONE WIN AWAY FROM A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The big night could have been tonight, Kat. But since the Sooners played poorly, and Alabama came out firing on all cylinders, the championship series is tied at one game apiece. The national champion will be crowned tomorrow. *gulp* Here's hoping my gals regroup tomorrow the way Bama did tonight. *fingers, toes, legs, and eyes crossed* www.soonersports.com/sports/w-softbl/recaps/060512aag.html

I caught Tuesday night's game at the bottom of the 6th, and nail-bitingly watched the 7th, thinking the Sooners might just pull it out as they closed the gap in the score.
I saw the final game listed last night, and tuned in late, but it wasn't on. Just read the news, and found there was a rain delay...and then read the final score.
So sorry, Siren; they came so close.
