Ah, changed Ava, I see. See, that's much better. Sonya Gomez was just... goofy. Nice post, btw, Ellie. I'm really liking the flashback posts you've been doing. Still curious about the guys that Jason found. Hope he doesn't get himself into big trouble or some such stuff. Seems like there's plenty of trouble to go around, though, what with centaurs and Romans banding together to wipe out tribes. *shrugs* Can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

Sorry about that John. I don't know about the others but I 've been away on a training course this end. Managed to log on now and again using the company phone but god, was it slow. Back to normal now though.

" These women couldn’t fight their way out of a paper sack!" LMAO! Phalon's reaction to Scrappy squishing the bug in her hair was priceless.

Thanks, Jon. Sad thing is, it wasn't too hard for me to imagine how Phalon would react to having a bug caught in her hair.
I work at a nursery, and where there are plants, there's going to be insects. I have done the 'get-it-off' dance more than once, (sans sword), the most recent cause being a big, hairy spider that crawled up the sleeve of my t-shirt. I had a partner; the customer I was screaming to was just as grossed out as I was, and we circled around and around the shrubs as I wouldn't hold still while she tried to get it out of my shirt.
Fortunately, no one was inadvertently killed during the incident. Not even the spider.

HA! You shoulda seen the stuff we planned that never got used, Joxie.....helicopters, plane crashes, bombs going off left and right, car chases, dancing girls, and a personal masseur named Sven for Phalon.
But ah...the dangers of plotting for a story that never had a plot....although Scrappy claims it did. I dunno - I was just in it for the free open buffet.
And you would have thought that with all the behind the scenes plotting (for the plot that wasn't), we could have planned a decent meal at which everyone got to eat. Pfft. Looks like this story is going to be the same.
Hey, Scrappy.....can you invent me a burger and fries to go?

LOL...hey I just got a bowl of meat stew! I was pleased. It's not my fault my companions were busy having visions or burining their dead wives or being dragon-like.
And as far as a burger anf fries goes.....I think ancient greece had cows But I'm pretty sure there were no potatoes until Columbus came back from here. So you're out of luck on the french fries.

What?! No potatoes?! First no coffee, then no chocolate, and now I'm told there are no potatoes? Sheesh, this isn't turning out quite to be what I signed up for. I guess we can always dig them from your ears. Eeeewww....nevermind.
And about that stew....you coulda saved me at least a bite, yanno. But no, no, no...'course you didn't. Pfft. I can still turn you back into a hag; it'd be kinda funny watching you try and gum down your food.
Ah, but there is hope.....I'm off to the grocery to get the last bit of supplies for Thanksgiving dinner! Mashed potatoes with gravy; I can't wait. Dang, those ancient Greeks had no idea what they were missing out on.

yeah, i read it. i remember. poor Phalon, looks like you'll have to make it without french fries. about the eating thing... i always figured it was assumed that the characters eat when we aren't watching. i do seem to remember Phalon forking down a plate of food, though. and then Ellie's character eating a goose. and then there was the thing with the magically appearing, disappearing, reappearing fish that never seemed to actually get eaten. again. always thought it was just assumed that they ate. if they didn't, they'd starve, right?

The potatoes came from here? I thought they came from Ireland. Or is it just the potato famine that makes me think that.

The potato is south american by origin. The north american....then wherever else it went to.

Aw. Okay. I remember the stories about the potato famine in Ireland, and somehow I came to believe that the potatoes originated from there.

Ooooo, Food History 101; my favorite class. (eye-roll)
The potato made its way into Europe from South America, but was brought there not as a food, but as a botanical curiosity. Because it comes from the Nightshade family, (same as tomatoes), it was regarded as poisonous. The leaves of both tomato plants and potato plants are poisonous, and eating green potatoes can make a person sick. In Europe, tomatoes and potatoes were looked upon with suspicion, and even associated with evil in some cases in long before they were considered 'good eats'.
As far as Scrappy's stew.....the mystery meat it contained was most likely not beef. While there were cows in Greece at the time, they were mainly used for sacrifice and eaten in religious rituals.
Soooooooo, the question then becomes, if Scrappy invents burgers, will she be overcome by some kind of religious epiphany? Taking the first bite, will Phalon declare it a truly mooooving experience?
It remains to be seen. Tune in next time to watch Scrappy invent Pepto Bismal after experiencing Phalon's cooking.
