I read it...so what videos did you rent? I think twister would be appropriate. When the drive in showing The Shining goes up with the twister I got all tingly. It is actually one of my fav movies. Not just cause of helen hunt.

Yeah, Twister is great. The bit where Jamie Gertz explains that she thought chasing tornados was just a metaphor for something actually touches something inside. Doing that for a job would make you feel alive like very little on earth else could. Men In Tights, hehe. Cary Elwes is one of my favourite B grade actors, though he often gets in high profile movies as well

Cary Elwes...
Has anyone else noticed that in nearly every movie that guy is in he plays the villain (excluding men in tights of course and a couple others)? It's funny because my family and I will see a preview for a new thriller and the second we see he's going to be in it we know he's going to be the bad guy.

I _finally_ got a chance to watch The Shawshank Redemption, and it was worth the wait. Whenever it came on in the past, I either caught it after it had been on for a while, or there was something I had to do and couldn't start it. Tonight I got offline to read a book for a couple of hours and decided to check the satellite grid to see what was on, and this movie was coming on in 10 minutes. I'm just glad it was a good movie. I wonder why Stephen King's nonHorror movies are usually always better than his horror movies? Well... now I'm gonna have to read the short story the movie is based on.

Better make sure you have a fair bit of spare time on your hands before you start that one Jox, a lot of King's "short" stories are almost as long as some novels, and "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" which is the full title of the novella, is no exception.
Good read though.

I was thinking it was the length of a novella... I'll have to search through the short story collections to see which one it's in.

Published in "Different Seasons" one of four stories in that book. Goes back a fair way, but being a King book, i'm sure it's still in print.

I'm a member of the Stephen King Library, so I have the book... Thanks for saving me from having to search for it... I was thinking it was in Four Past Midnight.

Man, you all are going way back....."Different Seasons"...back when I used to read his books in a day & a half--tops!
We caught "Internal Affairs" last night on cable....1990...Richard Gere (bad cop), Andy Garcia (IA), Laurie Metcalf (chic that played Roseanne's sister--also IA). Decent flic....turned it from "American Giggilo" to watch this one. What a difference 10 years made for Richard Gere....he just keeps getting better looking with age!!

Oh I wanted to see Duplex...I can use a belly laugh right about now. I used to be a die hard drew fan but can't manage to get to the movie theaters for awhile now. I still haven't seen "50 first dates"...I heard that was funny and then she has a new one out "fever pitch" Maybe I will check them out and have a marathon one of these days.
I picked up the dvd's for fat actress last week so hopefully can get a chance to sit down and watch. I heard it was funny! and Kirstey Alley is a fav in this house.

Be cool was a follow up of Get Shorty I believe, with Travolta playing the same character, and based on a novel by Elmore Leonard. Got mixed reviews here and I gave it a pass at the cinema, though the thought of seeing them dancing together again almost got me to go. Their scene together in Pulp Fiction was a classic i've always thought. Just saw Kill Bill vol's 1&2 recently, and will tape them together later so I can watch them back to back without a break, really great movie/s. Hope you didn't go out after watching it looking for some butt to kick. As you said .......... Uma.....mmeeeeooooowwwww!!

I kinda got the connection between this one & "Get Shorty" but I never could get into that one enough to watch it all the way thru....Mary & I both loved this one tho.....and the dance scene was nice...not quite as memorable as PF, but always a nice addition to any flic! I think Christina Milian's singing in this held my attention also. I like her sound.
We were making comparisons to Travolta from night before last when "Staying Alive" was on....lol....25 years certainly changed the tempo of his moment under the disco ball!! Not to mention how much higher his forehead is!! I STILL LOVE HIM!!

Cool beans. Z has the pulp fiction soundtrack and i like it other then the intros...So which movie had the better soundtrack? Kill bill or be cool? I saw the original kill bill and I heard kill bill 2 was much better, explaining KB1... Someday iw ill be rich and have all the time in the world to see everything I have wanted to see, but by then I will have forgotten what it was that I wanted to see in the first place.

"Not to mention how much higher his forehead is!! I STILL LOVE HIM!!" Also not to mention how much wider he is around the girth eh MG. "I saw the original kill bill and I heard kill bill 2 was much better, explaining KB1..." KB2 certainly wrapped up the loose ends from the first half, and was excellent, though personally I felt Vol1 was slightly better. I suppose it should really be looked at as one film though, and a very good one at that.

"Also not to mention how much wider he is around the girth eh MG. Well, you know the old saying...."let those of you without sin cast the first stone"....I was purposely letting that particular observation slide on by.....

I am so totally a PUMPKINHEAD addict....one of the best B's ever made as far as I'm concerned. I love LH in most anything I ever see him in...truely a talented actor. PUMPKINHEAD II was on this past weekend on Encore or one of the movie channels. It is a keeper too...going back & giving the history of the creature & more of the legend. Have you seen it??

Yep i've seen it [ the first one ] some years back, and only saw it once, but was very impressed by it. Winston played it straight and didn't treat the audience as idiots, as so often happens with these types of films, and the creature itself was truly awsome.
An "a" grade "b" movie, if there is such a thing.
