good thing that remotes don't need to hands to function...and watch out for some movies can be much more entertaining when you are on pain meds. Best not recommend any flicks until the meds have worn off and you get a chance to review you decisions.
I saw the cheesiest movie last night on scifi. It was about these giant mummies with robert wagner...It was like a traffic accident that you just can't look away from.

Hey sometimes when you are in the mood for cheese you just have to oblige yourself.
Blair witch II was on the agenda tonight, but the teen took it to a sleepover...I had never seem the second, oh well there is always time. So maybe movies will change now that there is no kid in the house...Time to dance through the house having midnight margaritas!!!!

Mij!!! Been missing you...hope your absence is due to fun & not those long hours on the road between home & work..... Come back soon!! Been jammin on the tunes It's for travel & fun, not work (in Germany at the moment) Interesting watching movies that have been dubbed in German though. It's an industry here & certain voice actors get to do their Hollywood equivalents all the time on a sort of contract type basis I guess, but there are few German voice actors I have found who can really growl or sound husky (like when watching Escape From LA the other night, the voice over for Kurt Russell captured nothing of Kurt's husky Snake Plisskin) Glad you're enjoying the music

Q are you saying you have been subjected to the sleepover mosnter recently...With school almost out here the kiddos are going nutz with never seeing each other for months and months...oh the torture...The call each other incessently on school days so why should that stop when there is no class? Anyway they ended up ditching the movie and going to see the Hitchiker Guides to the Galaxy at the theater. She was all giggly about wearing a towel around her neck and painting a number on a white shirt when she got home. Guess I am gonna have to watch just so I can figure out what the teen is up to... Maybe one of you can explain in parent speek. We are wanting to see Monster in Law...Any reviews from you all? Good...Bad...Ugly???

Yes, lordy....Sat. night....ended up being just one extra 14 year old but she somehow managed to put her elbow through the bedroom window trying to get the attention of the 12 year old who was grounded from the outside tent festivities due to seven zeros in Social Studies....*sigh* I'm ashamed to say the same troubled 14 year old managed to get my dander up again bright & early Sunday morning by staring me down & doing the "I'm-rolling-my-eyes-at-you-through-the-kitchen-window-&-actually-daring-you-to-say-something-to-me" thingy. *big sigh* I did manage to walk away & let Mary handle breakfast & the rest of the morning. Remember I am still very new at the mom thing, but it took me all of 15 minutes after sitting our own 14-yr-old down to realize that I probably could've handled the situation & the other child in a much better way....damn! I guess as long as I learn from those mistakes, all is not lost. The 12-yr-old will be having her bday party on the 18th, so I think I want another shot at this wild child....she is friends with both the girls & maybe this time I could work a little harder at understanding her demons..... so.......movies..... Phalon, Mary & I loved "Lemony Snickets"....that baby had us cracking up ("Bite me") & you do have to remind yourself that it is Jim Carey. Meryl Streep is always a plus IMO.....What was the b/w movie you mentioned before? Was it about Halloween or something?? GP...Mary says that translates in parent tongue to "expressing themselves"....kinda like decorating all the clothes with safety pins...*14.... & wearing a yellow ruffle tux shirt & vest with bow tie with jeans (courtesy of neighbor's closet give-away)...*12....my only rule: It must be clean & you must be covered appropriately!! Anywho....we are thinking about going to the drive-in this weekend to see "Monster-In-Law"....you know we love Wanda Sykes & Fonda & JLo is always nice to look at....I think it will be hilarious!! Sleep-over choice....."The Grudge"....Sam & Rob & Ted....always a winning combination. We had not seen this & everyone liked it. 'k....this is turning into a "Phalon-length post" & my shoulder is hurting....lol

Seems I still had more to say, but refused to make that last one any longer....
Mij...!!! I am jealous as always of your travels!! Enjoy & drop in when you can!! PM me with some details...sights, sounds, etc....
Finally saw "Freaky Friday"....five years ago I would've never bothered with this movie even with Jamie Lee in it, but speaking now as a mom, it's a keeper!!

I loved freaky friday the original due to Jodie Foster...Yes okay I admit it I knew even then that I had an eye for the lady. Then when I heard the remake would star JLC Oh my I had to get it. I loved it both as the parent and a child. As for viewing taste it is amazing how perspecitves change through child rearing. As for the wild child at the sleepover, everyone has their moments of grrr when the attitude is thrown in your direction. Don't be too hard on yourself and the fact that you didn't ban her from the house is a testament to your patience. I used to video tape the sleepovers and then let the grrls watch themselves the next day. It is amazing how some girls change their perspective as well.
The grudge was very good in my opinion. Scared the pants off me. I love suspense and creepy verses gore.
Mij I could not imagine having to hear another voice come out of my favorite actor's mouths...I would most likely crack up laughing or get so distracted that I lose track of the plot. I am sitting here imagining a stern non emotional voice reading the part of Snake and giggling.

Aww, thank you for those kind, encouraging words, GP. I can use them anytime!! And what a super idea about providing video evidence....that might serve well for most adults also--if we could view our own actions on a daily basis.....

Oh man you just reminded me of the new Ellen Degeneres standup "the beginning" it was on comedy central a couple weeks ago. Well we just got around to watching it the other day. She does a whole bit on there are two kind of people that video tape themselves in comprimising positons.
Ones that are so vain they are constantly watching and saying oooh look at me oh that is cool. look look look good looking woman I am...
and then those who use the tape like a learning experience compairing it to a football screening. Circling the screen
see that move now look at my face...not working...
and that move there...save that for right...wait wait wait here do it here. hehehe as she is pointing at the imaginary screen. I thought it was hilarious!

I am sitting here imagining a stern non emotional voice reading the part of Snake and giggling. Good grief, Jody Foster was in the original?? hehe. Anyway, the voice over actors in Germany are quite animated & get into their designated voice overs with vigour, but (remembering my limited understanding of German here too), I would rate about 10% of them actually capturing the inflections & intonations of the original English. I often laugh at the voice over & my friends here can't understand why, "but Richard Dreyfus does NOT sound like that!!!!!!" Of course the same works in reverse too when watching German movies dubbed into English

true true...then again the closest I get to watching foreign films is watching the japanese game shows on spike and movies on telemundo. Which I understand for the most part, especially when they are showing a movie I have seen lots of times. I think 'wierd science' was the last one I watched in spanish. Goofy and funny in both languages but farmer ted's voice just can't be duplicated.
Yes indeed Jodie Foster was the original grrl in Freaky Friday. I even remember her name was Annabell. Her mother yelled it plenty of times. She was a water skiier that competed. So the twist was different but still funny.

I used to watch that version of Freaky Friday when I was little, I was in love with it. However I personally prefer the Lohan version, as much as I detest Lindsay.
Probably my most favorite movie is quite an embarassing one. I heart West Side Story. Sad, I know, but as the product of an interracial marriage and a HUGE music buff I couldn't help but fall in love with it.
Other than that I'm a sci-fi geek and love Minority Report and stuff like that. Although the new Star Wars movie left me with a nasty taste in my mouth.

Welcome, BK! Nice to have you stop in & don't be such a stranger! No shame in West Side Story....I love the soundtrack, but when I had the opportunity to see it on stage a few years back, I was a little disappointed.... I don't know if it was me or the cast or what but I came away feeling a little cheated..... I saw you stopped in at "Music"....check out page 22, I think ILB loaded everything up to that point on that one page....if you're a music lover, I think you might find at least a couple that you like...& thanks for the suggestions that you left...can't wait to find them & try 'em out.... See ya! Peace!

Z's is definately the place to start a chat up session...then move on from there. With all the games and parties it is a great place to get acquainted...
So should I post a movie in this thread? Hmmm why not...hehehe
Kiddo is watching Dogma right now. I believe you already mentioned it but it is quite an interesting little movie there. Funny...satirical and yet makes you think.

I haven't seen that one. For some reason I never get around to the cruise film. Even though I like almost everything he has been in. I guess I just need flashy covers to get my attention and a guy in a suit isn't flashy enough for me.

"Sounds like you liked her...now was it her role or preformance that was amazing or just her presence?"
All of the above GP, just find her a superb performer, arguably the best young actress working at the moment. I think this was her first "big budget" Hollywood film, having made mostly smaller British films before that, such as ..................
Morvern Callar , Dreaming of Joseph Lees and Sweet and Lowdown. Think I first saw her in an episode of the British show Cracker, and she just stood out as an exceptional talent even then.
Not only a great presence, but great talent to go with it.
