Thanks! That's very useful information. You see, an IP address will be four groups of numbers. You have the first and last numbers, with the second solution still pending. That means the second solution will be nn.nn - a solution with a decimal point. It HAS to be so get the second and third part of the IP.

I believe the second one is a division problem I just haven't worked out the precise number that they have to be divided by.
If you feel like playing the first three parts let me know I can help you since I've completed them.

I'll let you know. If I can't crack the 2nd of the three here, there's really no use in solving the earlier puzzles. And it's not looking good. I'm thinking there should be an easier solution than what I'm seeing, but right now I keep thinking it's a wave - like you'd see with alternating current graphs. The other two were much more simplistic than that - and it makes me think I'm on the wrong track. Let's say the first three values are A, B, & C. I was hoping that taking the formula A times X = B, solve for X, then B times X = C, solve for X, would yield a recognizable pattern or clue to the solution, but it's not happening. Just to say it, it's possible the solution is nnnn and we're supposed to be smart enough to know that you'd have to use it as nn.nn to make it into an IP address.

Well......the first three puzzles were in the end fairly obvious. Though it it took me many attempts and head scratching failures to get through two and three. Once I did get the solutions they were head slappers. Like "Duh I should have seen that sooner." The first one was pretty easy. I do puzzles like that all the time.

Just thought I'd let you know I've passed on the math puzzle to the husband of a friend who has a GIANT brain. I gave it to him this morning and he still hasn't solved it even with the answers to the other puzzles and the information regarding the IP address. Here's the deal....I could cheat and google this. I know for a fact this part of the challenge has been solved.

Don't do it, Scrappy! I know you, and once you saw the answer, you'd be p!ssed at yourself for not figuring it out on your own.
'Course I could always pm you the answer - I figured it out days ago. BWAH-HA!

Liar. Why would you torture me so! Yeah yeah. I won't google. But I'm not above accepting the answer form one of the people I have passed it on to.

Don't sweat it Scrappy - she doesn't know her tangent from her cosine. Even typing "math" makes her break out in a sweat. Rumor has it that when BP and LX were mad at her, they’d insist they needed her to help them with their Algebra homework.
And I hope your friend's husband is having more luck than I am. I’m still drawing a blank. If I figure it out, I'll PM you just so a certain person won't know the solution and it'll torture her for years! {BWAH-HA-HA!}

That's the easiest question in this entire thread. Because it's fun.

Coulda sworn it was 23; everything can be related to 23, even 42.
42...4+2=6...6=2x3..get rid of the symbol cuz who the hell needs it anyway, and you're left with 23. See?

OMG!! You got her to do math!! Badly of course, but still, you baited her into trying it.
And I should probably 23 Skidoo - which has nothing to do with water craft - but Phalon without coffee is just weird and strangeness may prevail. Like she'd do actually try New Math or something. (Suddenly I'm hungry for Cheez-Its.)

Just curious...did you guys ever figure it out?

Yes and no. I know the answer, but I didn't figure it out. While looking into ways to solve the problem I hit a page that explained it in detail and displayed the formula. You know how it is, you can't un-see, so I had the answer handed to me. I shared the first part of the solution (how to solve the first number) as a hint, way down in a PM in case it wasn't wanted.

*sigh I am afraid I haven't gotten it yet and neither has my friend's husband. I'm almost ready to give up.

Maybe a second hint will resolve your difficulty. {Here's the second hint.} 8^2 x -3^3 x 10^3 Combined with the first hint, you'll see a pattern. If you wish, I'll supply the rest in another post.
