East Side, West Side (1949) - Barbara Stanwyck, James Mason, Van Heflin, Ava Gardner, and Cyd Charisse (what a cast!) star in this tale of a society couple's marriage threatened by the reappearance of an old girlfriend. Get Shorty - stars John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Danny DeVito, and Rene Russo. One in the string of Travolta movies released shortly after Pulp Fiction, when he seemed to be starring in movies left and right. I don't think he ever stopped acting, but it seems to me that Pulp Fiction put him back in the spotlight, and the few that followed - Get Shorty, Michael, Phenomenon, and Broken Arrow(?) - kept him on top.

Glad you mentioned "To Have And Have Not", Step. I have seen it countless times. After all these decades, that film is so entertaining, I think anyone would enjoy it.
Some Kind Of Wonderful (1987) A young tomboy (Mary Stuart Masterson) finds her feelings for her best friend (Eric Stoltz) run deeper than just friendship when he gets a date with the most popular girl in school (Mary Stuart Masterson).

LOL! I thought something similar watching Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie (an absolutely gorgeous and sexy couple) in the visually-sumptuous and erotic "Original Sin" - "And to think they got PAID for this!" The Old Dark House (1932) - Seeking shelter from a storm, five travelers are in for a bizarre and terrifying night when the stumble upon the Femm family estate. Boris Karloff stars. www.imdb.com/title/tt0023293/?ref_=nv_sr_1

That title rang a bell for me, Kat, so I did the IMDB drill on it. Sounds interesting. I hope I get to see it sometime. Thank you for mentioning it! BTW, the town the sailor (Eric Roberts) is headed for in the movie, Ardmore, is about an hour from here.
"The Sound of Music" - Have you heard? Okie country star Carrie Underwood is starring in a tv remake this holiday season.

That's an interesting fact, never know, you may have Eric Roberts as a neighbour. "The Sound of Music" - Have you heard? Okie country star Carrie Underwood is starring in a tv remake this holiday season. Hadn't heard that, sheese they're certainly aiming high remaking a classic like that. Oh yeah, and you may want to wander over to the Theatrical BallyHoo thread, left you a little something in there.

I've never seen that one, Step. Neat cast! Though I've seen Jennifer Jones in a bad film or two, she was always compelling to watch. Talented, Oscar-winning actress, much forgotten today.
That Wonderful Urge (1948) - When an heiress finds out that the friendly young man she's met at Sun Valley is really an investigative reporter, she ruins his career by falsely claiming they're married. Stars Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney.

Ooooo, that sounds neat, Step! I'll have to look for that. The Watcher in the Woods (1980) - "When a family moves to a country home, the young girls experience strange happenings that have a link to an occult event years past." www.imdb.com/title/tt0081738/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1Evidently, Disney tinkered with this film a lot, with alternative endings and more, but still tanked at the box office. Was to be Disney's first PG-rated film, but got edged-out due to delays. Stars Lynn-Holly Johnson (popular then because of "Ice Castles"), Bette Davis, and Carroll Baker, a pretty blond who got quite a build-up in the '50s, and appeared in some big films, including "Giant" with Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, and Rock Hudson. But Carroll somehow never really clicked as a leading lady.
