Being quarantined cost me some strength and a loss of technique for walking, and a few other problems, but I'm up and about again. Unfortunately, a few staff members tested positive so they cannot come to work and remaining staff is being stretched a little thin. And now this weekend is a 3 day weekend where no PT or OT will be occurring. In way of trying to help compensate, they've extended me a few days. I was hoping for more but I'll take what I can get. They're telling me they'll be releasing me on the 12th and any additional improvement will have to come from outpatient therapy. I'm hoping for much more improvement but I'll be able to walk short distances with a cane and as far as the facility is concerned, that's good enough to release me. They've arranged to have a ramp built for entrance to the house too. I never thought I'd need a ramp to get into the house. The PT lady is already warning me that I must not overdo anything physical because I'll end up back in rehab and fixing those problems will be as bad as anything else I've delt with. And thanks for the offer but I'll be home before a care package can get delivered. I appreciate the offer though. Also, I have to be very careful driving. My right leg is not as strong or reactive as it used to be and if I'm involved in an accident, it's pretty much automatically my fault. There are ways to compensate for my shortcomings but modifying the vehicle to left foot or hand controls would cost a couple grand.

HA! Wrote this big long post explaining why I've been gone for so long - some of which has to do with internet/computer issues, and enter it.....and my Internet connection was lost.
Sorry to hear that. Usually after having lost a post a time or two, I will start writing it in an email, then copy/paste to the message box. That way if something happens, I still have the post safe and sound in the email draft. But, eventually, I stop doing that, and eventually regret it.
Thank you. Since you were gone so long, I actually wasn't even expecting one.

Stepper: I'm glad some things seem to be working out for you. Sorry not everything is. If your car has cruise control, that might help a little bit, depending on the traffic, etc.
Being short, my Dad would duct tape a couple of blocks to the gas and brake pedals. I wonder if you could attache a rod with a block on the end to tape to the gas pedal so that you could use your hand to push on the gas? Then use your left foot for the brake. Ooh. What about a hoe or garden rake? Something somewhat like those? You could put the back, flat part of the hoe on the gas pedal, put your right foot on the inside, flat hoe, and then use both your foot and hand to press on the gas.
I very rarely use my right foot for the brake. I mostly use my left foot. This is because I've heard too many stories of people hitting the gas when they were aiming for the brake. So, I will lift my right foot, and pull it away from the gas pedal, while at the same time moving my left foot in to hit the brake. I really hope the hoe trick works out for you. It works in my head, but I've never actually tried driving with a hoe.

Wow. Next week’s low/mid-90s is now mid/high-80s. I’m not going to hold my breath, as there’s plenty of time for that to change back to the 90s again.

Nothing in the forecast except more triple digit heat and a complete lack of rain.

My brother suggested simply putting the left foot on the break and use the right foot for fuel only. That way the right foot doesn't even have to move and there's no chance of a delayed response from having to raise or move the right at all. Yes, the SUV has cruise control and I usually take advantage of that whenever I can to save a bit in fuel costs. Hopefully I'll find out before the weekend is over if it's me or if my problem was the van they had me test driving.

It happened to me a couple of times so I got into the habit of writing things in Word until they had been posted. Besides not losing longer posts, word helps with spelling which unfortunately is becoming more and more necessary.

Sorry to hear that. October will be here before you know it, and it will hopefully give you relief. Thankfully Idalia didn't pay you a visit.

I hope everything works out for you. Too bad the cars that drive themselves aren't cheap enough to rent or buy yet. I'm thinking my next car will be one that drives itself. I only drive locally, in a small county with two lanes, and have to ask others to take me to doctor visits. My mothers two friends are my main drivers right now. My sister helps out sometimes, but is sometimes too busy with her family, so a car that drives itself will be exactly what I will need in my future.

Next week the daytime temps are dropping into the mid-70s, and the nighttime temps are dropping into the high-50s. It appears it’s going to cool off quicker than last year. We shall see if it holds this pattern, or if it jumps back up into the 80s and 90s again. Autumn is almost here, so the temps will turn chill at some point within the next couple of months.

71 days of 100+ degree temps and it is projected to last another 2 or 3 days. Today is projected to get to 105. But supposedly the triple digit temps will be done for at least a few days and there's even a chance for rain! We'll still be in the 90's but there's a psychological relief with finally getting past the 100s.

I'm glad you'll be getting out of the 100s, but I'm guessing that even with the temps in the 90s, the "feels like" will still be in the 100s. However, a little drop is better than no drop at all, and will probably be a wee bit of a relief.

The previous record for triple digit heat was 59; it's now been reset at 74 but as of today there are no more projections for triple digit heat. We DO have chances of rain this coming week but especially over the weekend. I guess I passed the last test/goal this morning. They are releasing me Tuesday morning. I could use more time to regain lost strength but I've met the discharge goal limits so I will be released with a recommendation to go to outpatient therapy.

I'm sure you'd much rather be at home, so it's a good thing they're letting you out. And it's especially nice since it is going to be a bit cooler now.

Pfft! Shoulda done that - just lost another post, all typed out. My computer is losing the internet connection multiple times an hour, or even a minute (Hubs never loses the connection, so it's not our provider). It makes doing anything online a tedious task in frustration.
Glad to hear you're going home, Stepper. It sounds though, like you're going to have to be Goldilocks for a while - not too much physical activity, but not too little either; just the right amount to keep you improving!
Don't have time now to try to retype what I had written before I lost connection, so I'll just say hope everyone has a great day before I sign off.

Sorry you lost another post, Phalon.
The daytime temps are back up in the 80s for now, and the nighttime temps are still in the 50s, but will be in the 60s in a few days. If it doesn’t get back up into the 90s at some point, I’m guessing October will be nice. We shall see. It would be nice if October started out warm, and then got cooler the closer it got to Halloween.

Ah, Summer has wound down, what a busy one it's been, and our last event of the season was the big family reunion here last weekend (my ex-sis-in-law and I are already planning next year's!)
Fall colors are already starting, and the temperatures have definitely been fall-like, though we're supposed to get into the 80s this weekend.
Hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy the day!

Hey Imp!! Tell your keeper that it's almost time for Halloween so it's now time for certain stories to start appearing.

Autumn here can't decide if it wants to cool down or hang onto some Summer heat. Next week was all 70s/50s, and now it's 80s/60s, with next weekend being 80s/50s. All of the 70s have disappeared completely. And it appears it might continue on into the beginning of October.
