I like Tillie! That girl has gumption. I must admit I quite like her too. When I introduced the two of them (way back when), I wasn't really sure what to do with them. I thought the story was going one way, turns out I was wrong. Now I sort of want to see other characters being a bit more forceful. I'm thinking that perhaps none of the other bards are going to come back, so Tilly may very well carry the baton for a while.

I'm enjoying seeing the characters develop, and like where you're going with them. That said...
Oh, I hope Tillie keeps her playfulness, and good nature! (remembering when Sister Victoria started off so sweet and innocent before she turned into Icky Vickie from Hell!)

It's great to see you're finding some time to write in your retirement, Moonglum!

Just a little. I seem to have acquired another constraint on my spare time. I do one day a week volunteering at the local Museum of Power looking after a restored triple expansion steam pumping engine named 'Marshall'. Seems I just can't stay away from grease and spanners. www.museumofpower.org.uk/www.museumofpower.org.uk/Marshall.html

That is so cool! Both the Museum of Power, and that you are volunteering there. Do you act as a docent in addition to being a caretaker for "Marshall"?

No, a friend of ours takes care of that, he is also a trustee of the museum. I'm strictly a spannerman. (Moonglum, have hammer, will travel).

I think it's great you're volunteering your time and expertise, and keeping history alive...and running smoothly, at the same time.
"Spannerman" - I had to look up "spanner". They are called "wrenches" in America. I wonder why English and American English are sometimes so different.

It's strange the language differences between our two countries. Just out of interest I looked up 'wrench' in the Oxford dictionary. I've always associated the word with meaning to pull sharply, as in 'wrenched a muscle'. The Oxford dictionary says :- verb: Pull or twist suddenly and violently. Origin: Late Old English wrencan ‘twist’, of unknown origin. I'd never heard the word 'wrencan' before. I can't imagine people crying "I've wrencanned my ankle'.
We sometimes watch the Food Network and notice the differences in the names of some vegetables. I have a theory that the journey across on the Mayflower was so long that the Pilgrim Fathers may have just forgotten a few things.
Pilgrim 1 (holding up a courgette), "what is this called again?" Pilgrim 2 (with puzzled look), "I've forgotten. Call it a zucchini."

BOLL! I've never heard the word "courgette".
Quite possibly, that long, hard journey across the water, left the Pilgrims somewhat dazed and confused, I'm thinking.

I think it's because America is a potpourri of countries, and words and meanings have mingled and reproduced.

Now, now Joxie, we'll have none of that. Words mingling and reproducing indeed. Why next you'll be suggesting hemlines should be raised above the ankle. What next?

moonglum: Do you have writing sites you hang out at? If not, there is a thread somewhere with a long list of places to check out. Those listed below aren't listed on the thread, I don't think. I know you also have an account on Runboard, and there's a board I hang out there you might want to check out:
bmysticaladventures.runboard.com/
Pastor Rick did the November Novel Writing Month last year, and kept on writing all year ... and finished the first draft of his first book just in time to start on the first draft of his second book this last November. There is a forum on that board that only members on the list can get into. PR has posted his work there for critique. I don't know if you've chatted with PR or Firlefanz, if you haven't then if you join there I will let them know I've known you for several years and ask they let you into the member only forum so you can share your work there too, if you wish.
Firlefanz also has a Facebook group, if you'd like to check it out:
www.facebook.com/groups/TheWriteMindset/
I just joined:
www.thelitforum.com/
I haven't dipped my toe in yet. I haven't seemed to find the right fit yet.

I don't really have any sites that I hang out at. I used to visit a couple of sites now and again but I found that they were not really what I was looking for. I tried the November Novel Writing Month some years ago but pressure of work meant I couldn't finish in time. I got 21,000 words down and recently I got it out of the bottom drawer, blew the dust off and re-read it. I discovered then a glaring mistake and so I've started to rerwite/edit it. Thanks for the links Jox, I'll check them out. It might not be till after xmas, we've got a hectic family filled few weeks ahead.

You are most welcome. Pastor Rick sometimes only adds a few words a night. If you join the board, you can just lurk and follow his progress before you decide to jump in or not. And, yeah, sometimes it's hard to find just the right fit. I haven't found that 'sweet spot' yet either.

He's baaack! He, and his sword too.
You know, having watched a couple of movies recently on the girls' insistence, I can see Jason as the next DC or Marvel superhero, complete with his own movie.

I've tried to avoid the traditional superhero/superpowers route, but I must admit now you've said that, there is a trace of Highlander about him.

Oh, I do think you've avoided the traditional superhero route, but the heroes are so varied these days, they're not just a guy in a cape that flies around saving the day.
On a quest for perhaps redemption and self-discovery - that's how I imagine Jason.
Hhhmm....kinda sounds a bit like Xena. I read a link that Joxie posted on Whoosh's Facebook page that she is being rebooted as a comic book-type hero.

I was wondering when you'd get back to the story, Moonglum.
I love this phrase about Jason's eyes, "...hinted at a colour reminiscent of a clear sky on a warm summer day."

I've been so busy this year. What with sorting out a workshop; repairs to our caravan (static not tourer), the cooker packed up so I ripped out the old unit and fitted a full size free-standing one. Now I'm in the process of 'relocating' my study. All this while the temperature inside has mostly topped 100F. I've heard retired people say they didn't know how they found time to go to work, now I believe them.

Aphemenie dead?! Bertie down, quite possibly dead?!!
And the nun dead also? Well, she did have some very bad habits, you know.

BOLL - in regards to this latest development of Tillie and Jason passing the joint, wondering if we'll see a more relaxed, less intense Jason....
Soulrazor begins to glow, Jason feels its pull, and...
"Nah. I'll get back to you later. Right now, I have to find something to eat. Feel a bad case of the munchies coming on!"

Lol. I did think about including 'the munchies' in the next installment, but i don't know if it would be a joke too far! As to a 'more relaxed Jason', I think he needs a new quest to ally him with his new companion. When I decided to kill him off, he was getting stale in my mind. Just leaping from one random escapade to the next. Also I was tired of writing on my own, I felt like I had hi-jacked the 'House' and driven everyone away. Then I missed him, but I've decided that if he is back then it has to be with a purpose. So here is an open invitation to anyone who wants to collaborate further.

You didn't drive anyone away. Xena was off the air, and members began doing other things, and I guess the ones that were left kind of got burned out on writing in the story trains. Plus, social media happened, and those 'new toys' drew members away. You just came in too late in the game is all.

I've really been enjoying this most recent series of posts, Moonglum. I admit to being a bit confused after reading the first two that you posted back-to-back; I thought...hoped maybe...that Bertie was still alive, perhaps on some other plane that Tillie had wandered into.
Instead though, it seems she's been dragged into some very exciting developments - great writing.

Thank you. Tillie on some other plane, now there's an idea! [wanders off muttering 'dammit now I'll have to think of something else']
