I go from freezing to roasting. I really hate the inbetween seasonal weather. It makes me want Spring to be here asap, and can depress me. I remember to take vitamin D every now and again, and it's helping. Plus, I do better when I stay aware that the warm spurts effect me.

Got some bad weather headed this way. Better let the dog out before it hits. Though I'll have to go out with her. The bottoms is flooded and the coyote have moved in closer. The other night, not long after she came into the house, they started their crazy scary screaming, and they sounded like they were out in the yard. A few nights later I was on the porch when they started in screaming again. It sounded like they were in the backyard. We raced into the house asap. I hate when she starts barking and runs off into the darkness. I can't get her to understand the dangers.
But ... I swear ... if she doesn't stop farting and gassing me to death, I'm gonna leave her out all night to fend for herself.
Not.
Tempted to though.
Not.
Maybe.
Ooh. I hear the rumbling ... better get her outside before it gets here.

Same with Quetta - I hate that I can't see her in the dark, especially when she goes down into the ravine. She's black; she's impossible to see down there.
Except when there's snow on the ground; she stands out very clearly then against the white background. Like this morning.
Looks like it's back to the winter thread for me. We got a little more than an inch last night, and though it melted during the day, snow is predicted for the rest of the week.

Temps here are supposed to drop, so I'm sure I'll be back in the Winter thread fairly soon.

I'll meet you there! Rain woke me up last night around 2am; it sounded icy hitting the roof, and changed over to snow sometime during the night. Not much snow fell, but the salt truck went down the street this morning. Now, though, it's snowing and blowing pretty danged hard.

I love watching snow fall, and how beautiful the world is as it gets covered in white. If only roads and driveways were heated and stayed dry throughout. It's that it blocks me in, is what I most hate. I hate driving in it when it's over a couple inches. And driveways are the worst ... mine and Mom's are mostly only driven on my me. My sister's end of the driveway is easier, since they've usually been in and out and have cleared a path for me.
If I had it to do over again, I would have put a roof over my front and back porches. And maybe the front sidewalk to the garage.

This week the highs are in the mid-60sF. Next week the highs will be in the 70sF, from low to high to low again. This week the lows are in the 40sF, and next week the lows will be in the 50sF. I'd say that Spring is finally here.

Sunday was in the low-to-mid 60s, and yesterday it got into the 70s - gorgeous! Even so, Hubs could not get over the snow that's still on the ground up at LX's - not a lot, except in shady areas, and piles left from the plows, but even that there is snow sticking around this late in April is weird. Some of our shipments of trees coming from the Upper Peninsula are delayed until the snow melts - there's still feet of snow up there!
Back to not warm weather today - it was in the mid-50s, which normally isn't bad at all, but without a ray of sunshine, a breeze off the lake, and a damp feel to the air, it felt chillier than the temperature would indicate. Highs tomorrow are only supposed to be in the 40s.
Still...a couple of days of warmer weather has made some noticeable changes. The daffodils are blooming! Forsythia is starting to open too; not showing a lot of color yet, but any little bit is a welcomed sight. My helleborus (lenten rose) is covered in mauve-colored flowers; it's never had so many, and other perennials are starting to poke through the ground.
And the weeds! They suddenly seemed to come to life overnight - and multiply just as quickly!
Hubs planted potatoes today - he planted a lot more than we typically do, and I'm not sure where we're going to put the tomatoes and green beans. We'll probably have to do either one or the other, or give up my lettuce bed, and I can't decide what not to plant!

The temps are nice, but that breeze still has a chill to it that has me covering up when I go outside. Last week I heard lawn mowers all around me ... another sure sign it's Spring.

Good-god-honey-brrr! Pronounced as one word, that's what Hubs always says when it's cold, and dang, it sure was appropriate today! It was sunny all day, (reminds me I should start applying sun screen every morning!), but oh-my-gosh, that wind off the lake...frigid!!!!
Down to freezing tonight, and the same kind of temperatures for the next three days - highs in the 40s during the day, down to the 30s at night.
Maybe next week it'll feel like spring?
No such thing here, although there is a constant low whine to be heard throughout town....it's a week before prom, and Xena Sis has been busy with emergency prom dress alterations. I was at her house the other night with BP...and the nightmare outfit that is her prom "dress" - a fringy one-piece pantsuit number, that even I who doesn't sew at all, can see is a b!tch to alter. Along with BP's, Xena Sis had four other prom dresses to alter this week, and turned down doing two others. Same thing happens every year at prom......another sure sign it's Spring (even though the weather still isn't acting like it!!!)

Waiting for the car windows to defrost.
It's 34 degrees outside.

If it's warming up here, you should get our temps in a few weeks, I guess? Although, if you get the same chilly wind as well, you'll probably still need some layers ... until your work warms you up enough to enjoy that breeze.

BAH-Ha-ha-ha! Yes, the wind! Winds here come from the west - the lake is west. The Weather Report says the temperature today is supposed to be in the mid-to-high 40s, but the Surfer Report says the shore temperature of the lake is 29-30 degrees (the shoreline must still be frozen; I haven't been down to the beach in a while), and open water temperature is 37 degrees. Weather forecasts around here always add "colder along the lakeshore". It'll be a long time before that breeze (wind) is warm enough to feel good! Right now it feels like ice!
I read in the paper this week though, that there is at least one good thing about these cold temperatures - it has the fruit farmers doing a happy dance. The buds on the trees haven't even begun to swell yet, as opposed to previous years when the buds swell or even start to open, then the temperatures drop back to freezing, resulting in a crop loss. It might be too soon to tell, but they're predicting already bumper fruit crops this year.

Well, the farmers deserve a good year, and hopefully many more. The high temps of 60s/70sF have changed, and an 80sF or two have been added. Spring may be very short this year. Well, it usually is.

I know, right! Farming is tough, even when the weather doesn't interfere - and when it does interfere, it seems they can't catch a break.
The kids are coming in today and staying overnight before they head down to the Boyfriend's family in Indiana for a couple of days, and there was a million things I wanted to get done this morning before work, but ARGH! I overslept....again! It's not even my fault - my alarm didn't ring; it's still set. It's happened a few times in the last couple of weeks, and luckily Hubs' alarm, although he gets up later than I do, has woken me up. It's Saturday though, and he gets to sleep in. Apparently, although I have to work, I got to sleep in this morning also!

I was thinking about what you said about the lake water causing frigid breezes. I figured the pond was too small to cause such cool breezes ... and when I was at Mom's feeding her cats it occurred to me, the bottoms is flooded, and the water isn't very far down the road. I'm guessing all that backwater could be effecting the breezes.
Seems you need a backup alarm. I use my cellphone ... cause sometimes I forget to turn on the clock's alarm. Hope the kids have a safe trip.

Most of last week it rained. Today it's raining, but the forecast for the rest of this week is...............RAIN. They will probably impose a hosepipe ban soon, they usually do. If you think I sound despondant....I am.

It's sunny here, and the temperatures are rising - we could actually use some rain, which we're supposed to get later on in the week. It's still windy though - that's what's got people here despondent, because with the wind comes, cold. Still wearing layers, and winter jackets.
Soon. It'll be warm soon. (I have to keep telling myself that.)

We've had far too much rain here too. The backwater is just a wee walk down the road. Thankfully I'm on high ground. The temps are getting into the 80s, but the nights are still too cold. They should be getting warmer soon though.

It seems the weather has got everyone just a little grumpity!
Saturday, one of my co-workers showed a picture of his front yard, with a gorgeous old crabapple in full bloom, a hundred - maybe more - daffodils lining the front walk; maples in the backdrop were full of new bright green leaves. The photo was dated exactly a year ago. A photo of the same scene he took Saturday morning, shows not a single leaf or flower on the crabapple, and just a handful of blooming daffodils.
On Saturday too, Hubs picked all the daffodils that were blooming in our yard and put them in a vase on the kitchen table, because it was supposed to get below freezing Saturday night. And it did.
While I was at the grocery store yesterday, there were a number of people wearing short-sleeves, or shorts, as if by their dress they could will the temperatures to get warmer.
It worked! Mid-to-late afternoon, the wind died down, and it actually felt warm outside - maybe not short-pants and short-sleeve warm, but definitely warm enough to shed all those extra layers! Whoo-hoo! Maybe this is it!

Yeah. I showed images of stuff blooming at Mom's house last year, and they're only just now starting to bud out now. It got up in the 80s today, and just now I let Mom's dog out, and it was nice out there. No chill yet.

We had sunshine and temps of 16C yesterday. Just the weather for taking an early morning stroll down the garden, cup of tea in hand, only to discover someone had forced the lock and broken into one my sheds. Did I tell you I had 5 sheds? I'm known by the family as Larry5sheds! Anyway after a trip to the DIY store, I came away with £100 worth of security hardware and spent the rest of the day fortifying the mancave. Today it's back to rain, wind and cold. Do you sometimes feel the world is against you. I do!

Here too yesterday! Well, almost; it was somewhere around the mid-seventies. It's amazing what just a day of warmth does - my star magnolia, with its tightly closed fuzzy buds a couple of days ago, suddenly burst forth in pale pink blooms. The difference between this weekend and yesterday was like night and day - or like winter and summer!!
Cooler, and cloudy this morning - we could use some rain.
One of my absolute favorite things to do - except coffee, not tea.
And that's a cr@ppy why to ruin one of life's simple pleasures!
No, you didn't, Larry5sheds! What in goodness sake is in all those sheds, and does Voxie get to claim at least one as her own?!
Not the whole world - but even if it is, I tend to ignore large portions of it, just to save my sanity!

moonglum: I hope they picked a shed with nothing worth taking in it. Thieves make it so much harder for the rest of us. Perhaps you need to set up cameras, or motion-sensor lights.
Phalon: It's still warm here. My hot flashes make it hard to enjoy. Even the nights are no longer cool enough to appease them. Supposed to get Thunderstorms the next few days. Oh joy. As if the backwater isn't deep enough. All my neighbors live above the flood stage, so that's a blessing. Not such a blessing for the farmers who have fields in the bottoms they plant/harvest.

Cant' blame running late on my alarm not ringing this morning (you had mentioned using a cell phone as a back-up alarm, Joxie - my cell phone alarm is the only one I use).
We got some heavy rain yesterday evening, accompanied by a lot lightning. It eventually tapered off to a nice steady rain which lasted throughout the night; it's still raining. My alarm rang, and instead of getting up (or hitting the snooze!), I let the rain lull me back to sleep!
Later, Taters. Enjoy the day.

. Strangely enough Joxie, the shed they picked had two motor mowers in and they didn't touch either. I have fitted a motion sensor light. I can't really install cameras as it's at the far end of the garden, about 150ft away from the house and it would mean running cable all that distance. Plus I would have to elevate it to keep it out of reach. There are 4 more sheds and a greenhouse in the way so fixing a camera at the house end wouldn't work, it would be blind.
