Sorry to hear about Vox. I hope they bump her schedule up to see her before then.
Ditto! Having to wait for help when you're hurting is no fun at all! All kinds of hope and good wishes headed her way.

I'm back (hopefully). After 572 times. Not some random number off the top of my head - 572 is how many times according to our internet provider we lost service in the first 19 days of April. At first we thought is was all the construction going on in town which started at the exact time we started having internet problems - they are redoing the entire business loop (I didn't even know we had a business loop), but as it became more frequent, it was apparent something else was happening. Up and down, sometimes 15 times within a few minutes. Aggravating as hell.
It was squirrels! Or a squirrel - probably an unfortunate one. The internet service guy couldn't find anything wrong on our end, but followed the phone line (everything is above ground here) up the street, and found something had chewed part of the cable, so every time another squirrel (assuming the chewer got zapped) ran down the line, a bird landed on it, or the wind blew (which is constant here), the connection through damaged wire hanging by a thread would be lost.
Everything seems to be running fine now, fingers crossed.
Moonglum, send Voxie my best wishes!!!

I was wondering why you hadn’t been around. I thought perhaps the nursery was working you overtime. Good to have you back.

HA! That too!! Last week about did me in, physically, mentally, weatherly, sinusly.....and apparently, grammatically.
We'd been pretty steadily in the 30s and 40s, when two weeks ago, the temperature jumped overnight into the 70s and 80s. It stayed there all week - everything that had been dormant bloomed and leafed out at once - everything. And then as quickly as the temperature had risen, it plummeted - last week we were back to the 30s and 40s, with icy rain and snow. We've been stuck there since - it's actually snowing now. My head has been pretty much on the verge of exploding with the sinus pressure and pollen.

The changing temperatures had me sneezing and snorting last week. I took extra vitamin C to fight it off. It seems to have worked. I accidentally got a bottle of chewable vitamin C, and I love it. I wish all adult medication, vitamins, minerals, etc. were all chewable and yummy. Why should only kids have that?
We had a day or two reach up into the low 80s. The temps have dropped back down into Spring weather. It’s all 60s at the moment. A 70s will pop up every now and again, but then drops back into the 60s. Looks like May is going to stay Spring weather, but probably will turn into full blown Summer soon enough.

It's still in the 30s and 40s here - am trying not to get impatient waiting for some spring weather, or even spring-like weather, but working outside in the cold is starting to wear on me. We even had a couple of hard freezes last week, with temperatures down in the 20s. Not good for the fruit farmers, because everything is in bloom since that week of weirdly high temps.
Home sick today - fever, nonstop shivering, and light-headedness started yesterday. I took a Covid test out of precaution earlier today - it was negative. Pretty sure I have a raging sinus infection - for weeks now my sinuses have been giving me fits.
Going to go get under the covers.

Well, I survived a week of being sick as a dog, off work 3 and a half days, sleeping nearly 15 hours a day. Another week of being sick as a dog due to the antibiotics they gave me for my sinus infection did not agree with me one bit, but suffered through it at work: what we refer to as Hell Week - the week leading up to Mother's Day, plant shipments twice a day (thousands and thousands of perennials, annuals, and shrubs), and more daily customers than I can ever remember coming in in a week's span. I worked nearly 50 hours, and was so tired by the end of it, yesterday I slept again for nearly 15 hours!
But...my sinus infection is gone (hopefully), the round of antibiotics is done (my stomach can get back to normal), and the wintery weather finally broke, and it's turned to spring (though it's supposed to drop down to the 30s again a couple of nights this week). Fingers crossed this week will go smoother than the last two!
Edited to change a typo from a nearly 60 hour work week to 50 hours....though it felt like 160 hours!

Sorry you've been sick. I've had a sore throat lately, and I have to be careful when turning over in bed, as the bed starts to spin. The days are in the 80s, and the nights in the 50s and 60s.
Lesa is having to ride her scooter to work, as her car is in the shop. She hopes to have it back before the weekend.

Thanks. I don't know why the antibiotic made me so sick - that's never happened before. Possibly because I was (am) so tired and run-down from work? Feeling much better now though. Hope you are too!!
Last week was another 50 hours; we just can't seem to catch up. It's the same story that began when Covid first hit and garden centers were one of the only things open: too many customers, and not enough help - we're working with a skeleton staff, with double the business. Brought home a stack of paperwork that I have to catch up on today.
Hubs and I got a lot of the vegetable gardens complete yesterday - everything is weeded, fresh soil in the raised beds, tomatoes planted and marigolds planted, beet seeds soaking to put in today, as well as planting the lettuce seeds (which should have been planted a few weeks ago), and bean seeds. Potatoes, I decided to do in large pots this year instead of in the garden - I think it'll make harvesting easy - just dump out the pots. I need to get more soil first though. The rest of the gardens are still a mess!!!! Nice and lush from afar, but full of weeds up-close. It'll get done...eventually...hopefully.
First off to the grocery, then to work on my mound of paperwork.

The Peepers Are Out!
Today is the first time I've noticed the peepers peeping. I guess it finally got warm enough for them to come out of hibernation. I'm betting they'll be back in hibernation once the temps drop again.

I see little bitty buds on some of the trees. That's probably not good. Since it cooled down a bit, I haven't heard any peepers. It's supposed to warm up again, so they may come out again.

My a/c is running. I had to turn it on yesterday. It’s in the high 70s. It might get up in the low 80s, and then drop down to the 50s and 60s for a few days before jumping up into the 70s again. I can’t believe tomorrow is April. Soon the cold temps will be in the past.
——————
I learned on TikTok that you’re not supposed to ask for the date in dreams. People who ask, “What is today?” “What time is it?” “What’s the time and date?” Etc. The dream people get serious and act crazy. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the videos, so I don’t recall exactly what happens, but it was scary.
In last night’s dream, my parents and my cousin’s parents were there. Later, my cousin and I were walking, and she mentioned that our parents were alive. I agreed. She said, “No … Our parents are alive.” And I said, “Yeah … In this dream, they are alive.” Suddenly, I realized what I had said, and knew I was dreaming . . . so I remembered that I’m not to ask for the date, or the dream will turn scary, and then I get a brilliant idea. I turn to my cousin and say:
Me: “You can’t ask the date.”
Her: “What?”
Me: “You can’t ask what day it is, or what time it is.”
Her: “Okay.”
We reach a place with a party going on, and find a place to sit, sharing the space with other party goers. Everyone is laughing and smiling and having a grand ole time. The first thing out of my cousin’s mouth is:
Her: “What’s the date?”
* It goes silent, and everyone now has a serious face. They’re on edge. *
Them: “What!?!”
Her: “What is today? What’s the time?”
Them: “What do you mean?”
* They all have harsh eyes on my cousin. *
Her: “What’s today’s date, and time?”
Them: “We don’t keep up with that kind of stuff. It isn’t important to us.”
Her: “Okay.”
* I look at my wrist and see I’m wearing a wristwatch. The numbers and hands are missing. I get another bright idea. *
“Oh. It’s after midnight, everything should be closing.”
* Everyone starts packing up and leaving. My cousin and I start walking again. I’m coming up with another plan as I look at the scenery. Everything is green, must be summer. *
Me: “It’s December.”
* The greenery is gone, and there are patches of snow here and there, and it’s snowing. *
Me: “It’s July 4th.”
A deep voice: “Haha! Nice try. We’re not doing this.”
And then something wakes me up. So, it seems I prevented my dream from going dark and scary by getting another dream person to ask the question instead of me.

Hi everybody and a belated happy easter. It's been a while. I've been busy with other things and I really don't know where the time has gone. Vox had her hernia operation in December and after a few bumps along the way she seems to have recovered now. Now it is the turn of her head, two teeth out at the dentists last week and nursing a badly bruised jaw (it wasn't me, honest.) It seems an age since I did any writing and I'm beginning to get withdrawal symptoms, (I just looked back and it's been a year) god where has the time vanished to:
"Hello, emergency services, which service do you require?"
"Temporal anomalies please."
"Temporal anomalies, how can I help!"
"Somebody has stolen my last year!"
Have a good day, catch you later.

Hey, Moonglum. Nice to see you drop in. I'm glad to hear that Vox has recovered.
The hot temps are now cold temps. It will be chill the rest of the week, and start warming up again next week. Oh the joys of the seasons changing from day to day, week to week. It has put pressure on my head, and sometimes I feel like I'm on a swaying ship. The local emergency called me at 5:00am to alert me of an approaching tornado. I don't know what part of the county it was seen at, but my part of the county was quiet and peaceful. I haven't heard of any damage in my county, so maybe others got lucky too.

Whelp, the eclipse has passed us by. We were just outside of the cone where they experienced totality. Still, it got noticeably darker here. It was enuf of a change that the birds and squirrels reacted. The total eclipse included the western side of the county so it was nearby, and the traffic was unreal. I guess there were quite a few people who wanted to get to see what it was like.

My area got the totality. We got about a minute in 2017, but up to 3 minutes today. It was a nice warm day, until it turned dark. I was afraid it would be in the 30s/40s, but it was almost in the 80s. Supposed to be in the 60s for a few days, then up into the 70s & 80s starting on Saturday. The nighttime temps mostly in the 50s & 60s, but will be in the 40s for a couple of nights. This is most likely the last solar eclipse I'll ever see.

Ditto. I read that in 2044 there will be an eclipse. But at my age and with my already acknowledged conditions, there's very little chance I'll be here to see it. It's odd thinking of how many "last times" I'm facing. We all know that mortality is coming at some point; I find I can't help but occasionally wonder about when it might be. How can I make it easier for whom ever remains behind? But then, I don't who that will be so I don't know what preparations to make. Ultimately, it won't be my problem. "there are several other total solar eclipses scattered between April 8, 2024 and Aug. 12, 2045. However, the 2045 solar eclipse will be the next one visible across most of the contiguous United States, according to NationalEclipse.com. Only three states are in the path of totality for a solar eclipse in 2044."

I turn 87 in 2045. Most of my family members die in their mid-70s. I had a great aunt live longer than that, but she didn’t have kids. I don’t have kids either, so maybe I will make it to my 80s. Maybe I might live to see that eclipse. I’m not expecting to though.
Gotta hit the hay. Got a mammogram in the afternoon, and gotta pick up my taxes from the tax man. Yay! I’m done until next year. Never had them done this early before. Important papers came early this year. The last couple of years they came just a few days before the 15th.
Laters.
