Still cold here - 20s and 30s for the most part. It's been sunny though, and most of the snow is gone except in the shadiest parts of the yard, and the piles along the driveway and parkway.
There are signs that spring is coming though. I saw a bluebird pair in the yard - a treat to see anytime, but especially in spring, and especially in our yard since they like more wide-open spaces.
And of course the d@mn-@ass skunk. I read (and I've read a lot about skunks lately), that although they don't actually hibernate, they come out on occasion when the temperature is warmer - like it was the morning Quetta got sprayed. Oh, and late February-early March is when they mate. Hoping like hell, this one was just passing through the yard, and is not out there somewhere cooking up a batch of babies within spraying distance!

It is supposed to be in the 70s the next few days, and the nights are supposed to be in the 50s & 60s. I've been wearing summer clothes in the house, and I won't be surprised if I have to turn on the a/c for a couple of days.

Last week was winter - temperatures were in the 20s and 30s. Saturday it never got out of the teens - 18F was the high. Yesterday morning it was 15F with snow, though it did get above freezing later in the day.
And the only reason I am in the Spring thread is today is the first day back to work at the nursery.
Laters. Gotta go FMAO.

My days all week are supposed to be in the 60s/70s, and the nights are supposed to be in the 40s/50s. The beginning of next week looks the same so far. There is one night in the 30s though.
It seems you start the job in cold weather, and you finish it in cold weather too. Is one worse than the other?

Yesterday and today is why spring is my least favorite season...and why it's worse than late fall to work outside. It's cold, dreary, rainy, and windy. We have days like that in fall too, of course, but the difference is in fall, the wind might be cold, but it's not nearly as bad as in spring. The wind in spring bites like ice because the lake waters have had 4 months to turn frigid.
Other than yesterday and today though, this past week has been unbelievably nice here for mid-March. Temperatures in the 40s and 50s (I think one day it even got to 60) with lots of sun and no wind. It would have been perfect weather to work outside. I didn't - I spent all week putting the store together, and in order for opening the week of April 1st. All the store good orders we make in fall have to be taken care of. Almost done - I've just got finishing touches left to make everything look pretty. I'll probably be outside most of next week....
...when we're back in the 30s with snow.

Next week is supposed to be a tad bit cooler than this past week. The nighttime temperatures are not predicted to get below 39F. We shall see how accurate those predictions are. Of course, the daytime temperatures don’t really matter if the breeze is frigid. We’ve had nice, warm days in the 50s, and frigid days when the temperatures were in the high-60s and low-70s. I haven’t noticed the peepers chirping of late, so I’m guessing the air has been too cold for them to come out and proclaim it Spring. I’m dreading when the temps dip back down below freezing. I’m sure those temps are in the future, until Spring weather has fully moved in, and starts shifting into Summertime temperatures.

We've had a lot of rain in the last few days, but thankfully it's been late enough in the day that we've been able to get a lot done outside at the nursery - official opening day for the season is Monday.
Woke up this morning to a covering of snow, which is supposed to continue off and on through the weekend, with accumulation. How much accumulation remains to be seen - it's predicted it'll be lake-enhanced snow, which means more snow for us than if we didn't live so close to Lake Michigan.
New signs of spring this week: some of my early-blooming daffodils are up, and have tightly closed buds, and the pussywillow in the ravine is full of fuzzy soft catkins. I wanted to cut some branches for a vaseful of springtime inside the house, but the ravine is way too wet to get down to the pussywillows.

Holy Guacamole, Batman - it's f***ing cold!!! It hasn't been out of the 20s for the last couple of days, and today is starting off the same - it's 20F now. Even the daffodils, that just a few days ago, were budding and looking like they were going to bloom soon, are laying flat on the ground in protest. Spring. Pfft!!!

It cooled off here as well, but not as cold as where you are. It's warming back up though. Tomorrow will be in the 70s, and bringing severe tornado weather with it. Oh boy.

After a week of t-shirts and sun, the temp has plummeted today. The north wind has returned bringing with it arctic chills just above freezing. In the south here it made a feeble attempt to snow this morning, lasting all of 5 minutes and melting as soon as it landed.
I can't imagine what that's like. We haven't had temps like that for a long, long time.

Twenty degree and lower temperatures are normal here, but I think it's strange that in winter - even a month ago - there are 20 degree days that seem nice (if the wind isn't blowing). You go about your business outside, walk errands, shovel snow, or whatever, and it's just a typical day. I'm sure it's just a mindset because it's supposed to be spring, but in late March, 20F seems unbearably cold.
It has warmed up yesterday and today into to the 30s, almost to the 40s (they predicted the 60s for yesterday, but my car temperature reading said it was 36F when I left work, so I don't think it ever got near 60). It's been steady rain though. The temperature supposed to drop, and the rain is supposed to change to snow.

It was warming up here, but yesterday’s storm left us colder, and we’re back in the 40s & 50s for the highs again. At least the night’s lows are staying above freezing. I don’t know what it is about late Winter and early Spring, but that breeze is usually icy cold, even on warmer days, making it hard to enjoy going outside.

Next week’s lows don’t go below the 40s, and the highs don’t go below the 60s. So, it will probably be a/c weather soon. With it being warm outside, and the sun cooking my house, it could be I’ll have to turn on the a/c next week. I plan on holding off, if at all possible, until as close to May as I can.

It's been a mixed bag of mostly cr@p here. Rain and snow for the most part, though yesterday was warm and sunny. Saturday, LX and I drove up to the university to watch BP in a fashion show; the drive up wasn't too bad -rain mixed with snow - but the first hour of the drive home (which was around midnight) was blinding snow and frozen fog. Kinda dicey. Pouring rain now.
The mixed bag of mostly cr@p hasn't just been bad weather - I've been frustrated with a lot of other stuff too: a $600 electric/water bill (it's normally $220-280) that I called the city about and didn't feel I got an acceptable answer as to why it's so high, a front bumper of my car that has been cracked by a dump truck on the highway spewing gravel, BP and her obnoxious boyfriend got back together, LX's boyfriend cracked a vertebra in his back on the job and his employer is giving him the runaround with his health insurance coverage, getting the runaround too from the flooring contractor we hired over a year ago to put in a new kitchen floor....and on, and on. Blah.
Enough of a rant. I have to get ready for work.

The temperatures were going up here, and next week is to be really warm, but the next few days between now and then will be chilly. In a few weeks, I'll probably be wanting some of this chill back, but right now I just want the chill to take a hike.

Right now it is 80F, but feels like 82F. I have finally turned on the a/c. We’ve had a lot of rain, and more rain is predicted. It is April after all. The world grows greener and greener. It is supposed to cool down next week. Not by much though. Only one night is predicted to get down to the high 30s. The highs in the 60s. So still nice.

We're still all over the place. Is it spring? Is it winter? Who knows - it changes daily. Last Saturday we had snow and 30 degrees, then this past Sunday and Monday, my days off, were sunny and in the 50s. I got a lot of yard and garden work done, while Hubs cleaned out the garage and washed the truck, which we store for the winter. It felt nice to work outside without layers and layers of clothing. Tuesday was even warmer - in the 60s - and it stayed there yesterday, though we had heavy rain at times.
And now, we're back to 30F, and very windy. It's supposed to stay in the 30s and 40s throughout the weekend into next week, with a mix of rain and snow.
I think when I get home from work, I'll cut a huge bouquet of the daffodils that were tricked into blooming this past week, so at least it feels like spring this weekend inside the house, even though it'll be winter again outside!

That one night that gets down into the high 30s goes up and down, so who knows what it will be when that night gets here. The rest of the nights are in the 50s and 60s. The highs are in the 50s for a couple of days, but mostly in the 60s and 70s. The storms are over, but there are a couple predicted over the next few days and next week. It’s April though, so there’s still a chance for it to turn chilly between now and May. And even into May. May was chilly for a few weeks last year, but that isn’t the norm. May tends to be blazing right from the start. Unless you have an unusually cold May, you’ll probably start warming up soon. At least you don’t have months to wait, it’s just a matter of days/weeks now.

Next weekend’s highs are predicted to be in the 80s, and the lows in the 60s. So, the cold’s days are numbered. It’s chilly here, the last rain brought in chilly winds, and the clouds prevent the sun’s warmth from reaching out to everyone and everything. Just one more week until the world turns into an oven. It’s still April though, so temps could stay cold, or drop back down to a chill at any moment.

The next few nights are supposed to be in the 30s and 40s. Then after that the nights will be in the 50s and 60s. The next few days will be in the 60s and 70s, and then after that the days will be in the 70s. So, Winter is definitely over.

Maybe this will be the week here! Last couple of weeks, we've seen snow, rain, high winds, and temperatures mainly in the 40s and into the 50s for highs, and the 30s for lows. There was a Saturday when it shot up to 80 degrees, only to fall back into the 40s the following day, and a couple days later below freezing at night. Everything laying in wait to flower, bloomed in a day - the buds on my magnolia were tightly closed when I left for work, and with the heat, it was in full bloom when I got home.
This week though, things are supposed to kind of even out with temperatures in the 50s and 60s, without the drastic ups and downs. Hopefully. Lots of rain in the forecast, which makes it seem colder.
Work has been very busy - I come home, eat dinner, and pretty much crash for the evening. It was nice to get a couple days off Sunday and yesterday to rejuvenate. Spent a lovely day with LX and The Boyfriend on Sunday. She has to work on Mother's Day, so they came up a week early. BP will be here this coming Sunday, I'm hoping without her boyfriend - I've taken to calling him the Leech, because he is sucking the life-blood outta me. It is exhausting just to be around him.

Where did all of those 90s go? There’s only one day next week predicted to get up in the 90s now. This past week would have been nice, had the air/wind not been so frigid. Winter is still letting us know it isn’t yet ready to leave. Typical Spring. Except, May tends to turn into Summer in my neck of the woods. So, it’s not usually so chilly here.

Apparently, they migrated north. We went from the 40s and 50s with cold rain last week, to a beautiful weekend in the 60s, and jumped right into summer with temperatures at nearly 90! Last week at work, we were sopping wet, cold, and wearing winter coats; this week we're sopping wet with sweat. Went from below normal temperatures, to 25 degrees above normal in a matter of days.
Maybe some relief next week - it's supposed to drop back down to the 50s and 60s. I love the 60s.
Missing watching the birds at the feeders. We took them down on the recommendation of DNR in order to try to curb the spread of avian flu. The birds are still in the yard of course, but my morning coffee on the porch isn't quite the same without the view of them flocking to the feeders. Yesterday though, the background music was lovely - an oriole serenaded us throughout the day. Such a beautiful sound.

Today is 89F, but feels like 96F. Yesterday was the one day it has gotten into the 90s so far, and it felt like it was in the 100s. My house was 75F, and I had it set on 73F, so I turned on a bunch of fans to circulate the air, and that helped lower the inside temp. I’ve also closed most of the doors in the house, which is helping keep those rooms cooler. The three bedrooms have vents over the doors where the heat can escape into the main part of the house. So, my bedroom is pretty chilly at times, depending on the outside temp and the sun. If Spring is coming in with a bang, maybe Summer will go out with a whimper. One can hope.

Was basking in the moonlight this morning, drinking my coffee. The moon has been gorgeous the past few nights, though I missed the lunar eclipse on Sunday night.
It's cooled down, thankfully, from those high 80s of last week. We're at 48F now this morning, and it's only supposed to get into the 50s today. Mid-seventies by the end of the week, which is typical here for mid-to-late May.
Is it really already mid-May?!!
Work has been busy as heck - I've stayed at least an hour late everyday, just to try to get caught up, to no avail. I went to the nursery on Sunday, to do some shopping of my own, because I don't even have time to do that while I'm at work. Ended up staying over an hour, just checking people out after I got my plants. Brought all my paperwork home that had been backing up, and at least got that done yesterday. Don't really feel like I've had a weekend off, but that's how it's been going.

A red fox just ran through the ravine with something in its mouth - a small bunny, maybe? Squirrel? Too dark to see what it was the fox caught. We've got more rabbits and squirrels we can ever remember having in years past; the neighbor said just a few weeks ago, that it was because the foxes weren't around anymore.
They're baaack!

There were storms off and on Sunday, and it was pitch black when I stepped out on the front and back porch to get a look. The temps are supposed to drop down into the 70s next week, so hopefully the "feels like" will not reach the 90s/100s.
