They're out there - things that go perfectly together. I'd be amiss if I didn't mention the obvious on this board: Xena and Gabrielle.
But I'm a missus, so I'll continue...
Peanut butter and jelly, (though I prefer peanut butter and chocolate).
Milk and cookies.
Abbott and Costello.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Bonnie and Clyde.
The list goes on.....

Nick & Nora Charles, from the old "Thin Man" movies
Bogey & Bacall
chips & salsa
a little sack of peanuts and a coke
Did you really have to mention grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup? Boy, that sounds good! And here's a little story. When I was working at a previous job, my granny knew that I had no money. Every time I visited home, she would either give me a $5 bill or a little sack of groceries - usually canned tuna and tomato soup. She would say, "Just fix you a cheese sandwich and some tomahta soup." That's how she said it - tomahta. I never see a can of Campbell's tomato soup that I don't think of her. It's been more than 10 years now since we lost her, and it can still bring tears to my eyes, just as it has now.

Sorry, Siren. I will not mention "grilled cheese and tomahta soup" again, (hubs called it mater soup). Funny, isn't it, how food can trigger memories, even be nostalgic?
One of those triggers for me is sauer kraut.
Dad loved kielbasa and sauer kraut; it was his perfect combination.
Us kids hated it, but every once in a while, Mom would make it just for Dad. We'd come home from school, and could smell the stuff cooking from outside the house. Eeewwww. And she'd make us taste it! The things Moms do to their kids! The smell of sauer kraut still turns my stomach.
Much better is:
Coffee and Bailey's
Bagels and cream cheese. Peanut butter too, if you're in the mood for a three-some.
Pizza and beer.

Fish and Chips.
Chips and dip.
Mashed potatoes and gravy.
Strawberries and cream.
I'm hungry.
Chocolate milkshakes and whipped cream.
Spaghetti and meatballs.
Anything and sour cream.
Can somebody save this thread before I gain a bizillion cyber pounds.

Salmon & Cream Cheese
Chocolate Spread & Toast
Creeam Soda & Ice Cream (especially during summer!)
Cockles & Vinegar (Ahh I remember those gritty sandwiches, sitting on the beach when I was a kid!)
Sex & Chocolate (though not both at the same time!) I think I'd better end there!

HA! I knew a tease with Jack and Coke would get you in here, Scrappy. Pepsi - pfft.
Vox - a cockle is what exactly? Some type of mussel?
Speaking of cockle mussels: Sex and chocolate - sometimes at the same time.
Vegemite and toast - I dunno, I think I once heard that somewhere; I can't remember where. Maybe subliminally.
Marjancin - BOLL!

Phalon, you are on the right track with 'some sort of mussel' they are indeed seafood, look a bit like somethig you get out of your nose when you have a heavy cold (eeeuuuuch!) but they are surprisingly tasty if you can get past the odd bit of gritty sand!

Moonglum, LOL!! Thanks for the laugh. Vox, thanks to that mouthwatering description, I'm gonna run right out and find some cockels. I'm sure that here in Oklahoma, that should be no challenge at all. Forgot a couple of great combinations: chicken fried steak & white gravy biscuits and gravy jeans & a t-shirt a rainy day & homemade soup

Oh, no, no, no....my coffee's gotta be unadulterated, Vox; the more sludge-like, the better - the kind you have to arm-wrestle just to get it in the cup. And hot - it needs to be as piping hot as I can stand it.
The only thing I ever put in my coffee on occasion is Bailey's. Oh, and occasionally if there is Bailey's in there, whipped cream is yummy too.
Yep - that's a perfect combination: Coffee and Bailey's with whipped cream. Actually, whipped cream is perfect by itself.

A bonfire and hot dogs.
Just got off the phone; big bonfire over friends' house late tomorrow night - just hot dogs, pot-luck dishes, and marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers. A departure from her usual fare prepared by her culinary college graduate daughter; we usually leave there so stuffed it's uncomfortable. Not to say that part will be different; I love hot dogs grilled on a fire, their skins slighty charred, nestled in warm buns and smothered in onions.

A warm hubby when it's cold outside! I wonder how Vox and her warm hubby are doing. Good, I hope. An unattended platter of steaks and a counter just the right height. A perfect combination for Quetta the hungry lab; a not-so-perfect combination for the rest of us.
