Oh Lordy. What is easy for you isn't for me to figure this out. Our fourm should be the width that your forum is. Our logo at the top should be the width of our forum and it isn't. That has always bugged me. So is 700 the width you have? I'm going to pm you. If you count the dark background behind the forum, it's 795px, but I think you're talking about the width of the google ads, which is 728px. Currently, it looks like your header is picking up on the code you have in there that changes the width to 600px, since the banner is 596px wide and there is a 1px gap between the banner and the border, which is also a pixel (border + gap + banner + gap + border = 600px). If you make the top table 728px wide like the google ads, then that leaves 65 pixels of blank space on either side of your banner (totaling 130px of blank space). Is that what you want to do? Currently, this is what I'm seeing on the main page: - Welcome table
- Script that changes the width to 600px, which affects the welcome table
- Forum listing
- Script that changes the width to 700px. Since the welcome table is already changed to 600px, only the forum listing is changed to 700px.
The script affects tables that come before it, not the ones that come after it. This is why the first one only affects the welcome table and the 2nd one affects everything after the 1st code. I responded to your PM, but I'll send you another reply.

This will most likely make much more sense to me when I see it completed. I got your pm's and have sent you the info you need.
Thank you,

I'll help you make sense of it. ;D I haven't had time to look at the coding you put in. But I will get to it. I did backup the Headers/Footers as of July 5. There's alot of stuff going on there behind the scenes right now in prep for the fall. I guess I don't need to tell you about things like that as I'm sure you already know what that's like. Plus I wanna get back over here and talk on those threads I've been neglecting. ~Naj

No problem. I certainly understand what it's like to juggle a million things at once, and sometimes you just have to let a few hundred of them slide.

Gig or Joxie? I can't remember which one of you lovely helpers of mine, (and others, of course), recommended using Yahoo for e-mail.
I've a question concerning that. If one has two Yahoo accounts how does one delete one of those accounts? I went to their "Help" section there, and their advice was to go to "My Services" and there I would find further instructions. I have "My Mail" and "My Account", neither of which contain something that says "My Services", nor do those "mys" list options such as deleting a e-mail account. Where do I find such a thing?

It was Le who suggested Yahoo. I have a few accounts myself. I don't recall ever seeing an option to delete the account... but then I haven't looked for it as of yet.
Goggled and found this for the mail account:

I'd never looked for a way to delete one either, since I only have the one Yahoo account and no plans to delete it. Excellent 'goggling', Jox.

Pssst....Jox.....have some fruitcake?

Fruitcake? Sheesh, label me that. I had one of those days...you know, I have them every so often; they coincide with the moon or cycles, or washing of the laundry or something. One of those days where everything I touch breaks.
My computer virus protection was about to expire, and my neighbor, the Computer Guy, told me of a free download. "I never pay for anything that's free", he tells me. So I listen; he is my computer guru, hooked me up with my present beast when the old one finally groaned one last groan before it was "corrupted" beyond repair...or at least would not allow for a DSL hook-up.....blah, blah, anyway he fixes all my computer problems; it's what he does for a living. And following his I-never-pay-for-anything-that's-free advice, I accept his help readily.
I turned on the computer to remove the expiring virus protection, and download the new - the free one. ACK!!!! The turn-on switchy thing fell off. I touched it and it just fell off in my hand! It would not go back on. Neither, after Hub's heroic life saving attempt would it turn on. Walked to neighbor's and explained my problem....and he set to work replacing a bunch of computer guts, which was a good thing, he said, because the fan was about to seize. Blah, blah, blah....anyway at least now I had power.....
...never a good thing in the hands of one who breaks all she touches in her current state of electrical static disaster mode. But finally I was now ready to go to the site he told me, and click on the thing he advised me to click on. A $1.59 service fee was required, and a credit card required to put it on. A service fee for a free download?....well, ok. Whatever. Finished the fill-out thingy, and got a "$70.59 will be charged to your credit card" reply!
Walked back to neighbors. "You've been scammed." "Scammed? Me?" <incredulous eye-roll> Sh!t.
Followed me home, and dowloaded the correct thing, (it seems the incorrect thing was an advertisement for the same software but offered by a service company who charged for it). So tomorrow I call them, and the bank, and try to get my $70.00 back. Pfft.
So my problem.....the reason I need help, (other than the obvious "she needs help" help)....with the new virus protection my Internet connection only lasts for a few minutes before I have to reconnect.
How do I fix this? Anyone? I'm sure neighbor Computer Guru has grown tired of following me home to attend to the Questions of the Confused and Destructive.

Does their website have a "Frequently Asked Questions" link? (FAG) The answer may be there. It could also have to do with your security level. You may need to lower it to the next lower level. I ain't a guru on such matters either.

The first thing I checked was the security level, and it's right where it was before, so I'm thinking it's not that.
And I have DSL, so I shouldn't have to reconnect; that was a problem I had back when I had a dial-up connection.
The DSL box shows the connection is fine too. <shrugs> It only takes a second to reconnect...just like refreshing the page, but it's irritating that a box keeps popping up telling me to reconnect.
I'll talk with Computer Guru tomorrow, I guess.

My anti-virus also has an "exception" and "denied" list. You might want to check those to see if something needs to be added or deleted.

I remembered seeing on the ProBoard Support Forum that if you're having problems staying logged into your user account, you should log in "forever" and that will take care of it. I don't know if that will help your problem though.

Hi Jox - A tech question for you, O Wise One: I get my internet from Cox Cable, and Firefox is my browser. Do I need the free security Cox offers, which is McAfee? Or am I protected by Firefox, Windows Defender, etc? I think my computer is slower with the McAfee program. Granted, it's faster than it would be if it was infected, but still.
Thanks!

If you have a firewall, an anti-virus, &/or other protective programs on your computer, I'd say you wouldn't need it. But I'm not that tech savvy. I've not heard good things about McAfee, so I would suggest you use something else.
I have a thread with free programs listed, and Lesa has a few threads on the Internet Security board with helpful info. And the old Whoosh forum also has archived threads that will have info that can help. Some of the info is old and the links may no longer work, but I'm sure you can find the new links in a Google search.
I have heard that Mozilla is the safest browser, but it isn't foolproof. I even add the ads sites to the blocked lists on all the browsers I use and on the firewall blocked list to help keep them from showing up and/or from adding cookies ... but some do slip through at times.

So I finally gave up my old browser, which I came to know and love, but which frequently visited sites were about to discontinue supporting. Yes, yes, I know there are many browsers out there, but I like the simplicity of IE, and just upgraded from 6 to 7.
But, (other than things looking slightly different), I can't seem to have more than one Internet site open at the same time. I'm sure there are multiple ways to do this, but the method I used to use was just to keep "My Documents" page up, and bounce from the "favorites" heading there to different sites, while keeping other sites open.
With IE 7, everytime I try to bounce, it closes the page I'm on to open the new one. It can't be too difficult a thing to figure out how to keep more than one website open at a time, but (surprise) I can't seem to find out how. Suggestions?

I'm guessing you worked it out? I hope so, because I started using Mozilla Firefox long before the IE upgrade, and I no longer know much about the newer version. There is also Apple's Safari to try should you want to make a switch.
