Let's see..that would be Janet Leigh (who was married to Tony Curtis, dad of Jamie Leigh Curtis), who co-starred with the very cute Robert Wagner as the dude with the silly hairdo, "Prince Valiant". I think. Yep, yep, yep, yep ........ and yep, correct on all counts Siren, well done. I think the thing that bothers me most about Kev's "Robin Hood" was his thinking that an English accent was unnecessary. What utter arrogance! Totally agree, they could have at least made the attempt, for crying out loud they're actors after all, mastering different accents comes with the territory surely.

I'm with you guys on the accents. If they can't pull it off, get someone who can. Or have all the accents be the same, at least.

True that, Mia. I'm surprised that Kev didn't just hire an all-American cast and be done with it, since that would've been easier for him. I mean, so what if it's an English legend? It was a KEVIN COSTNER movie! *rolling eyes*
And the game goes on...

Think a clue or two to get the ball rolling Siren, maybe genre/era?

You bet, kat. That line is said from one Hollywood legend to another, both well into their 70s. They both won Oscars (her 4th) for this bittersweet 1982 film. And the daughter of one of them was Oscar-nominated as well, one of 10 nominations for it in all. She said the distant father/needy daughter roles they played were similar to real life, and that his Oscar win (his first and only, shortly before his death) was the happiest moment of her life. (Her dad had won an honorary Oscar the year before.)
Come on, kat. I'd NEVER call you an old poop....
to your face! ;D
Only kidding!

Great clues Siren, pretty sure we're talking "On Golden Pond" here ............ think it was Katherine who spoke the lines to Henry if my memory serves. Come on, kat. I'd NEVER call you an old poop....

I'll take a guess. Two movies about sharpshooters come to mind. Could it be...
"Annie, Get Your Gun"?

|
Post by katina2nd on Apr 1, 2008 1:22:27 GMT -6
Nope not Annie I'm afraid, good guess though, you'll have to go back almost a decade further for this one, and the sharpshooter in question was using his talents for a far more deadly purpose.

Okay, then I'll go with the other sharpshooter who came to mind...
"Sgt. York"?

Bingo, "Sgt. York" it is Siren, with GC in his Oscar winning role.

Would this be from a Vampire movie by any chance Siren? Dracula? in "Bram Stokers Dracula" the Francis Ford Coppola version? maybe? possibly? nope way off the mark?

Well done! Yes, it's from the Bela Lugosi version of "Dracula". Here's the way Bela said it, in his distinctive accent:
"LEEsen to dem...CHEELdlen of da night...what MYOOsick dey MAKE!"

Didn't know you were so bilingual Siren, first your great Mexican accent a while back [ Badges, we don't need no filthy badges ] and now Transylvanian. "They're here already! You're next! You're next, You're next..."

Me and Xena, we have "many skills". Hmmm...fun quote. Can you help me narrow it down a bit? Genre? A star or 2?

Can't help you with the stars I'm afraid Siren, can't recall who was in it to be honest, but it was made in the fifties and has been remade [ twice I think ] the first time with Donald Sutherland in the lead role.
If those clues don't help I'll give you the genre, which would give the answer away methinks *made lot's of these type of films in the fifties*

Oh Good Gravy! Not Invasion of the Body Snatchers! I've no idea why they remake that movie so dang many times. (Can you tell I simply _loathe_ that movie ... er ... those movies? )

Yep that's the one Jox. I take it you didn't rush out and see the Nicole Kidman version that was made last year then?

Ummm that sounds like an exchange you'd get in a Marx Brothers film, not one of their's by any chance?
|
|
|
Post by Mini Mia on May 9, 2008 21:29:54 GMT -6
Nopers, no Marx brothers. The actor has been in many spoof films though, and the actress wears many hats. (She's multi-talented.) This film is more serious than those from her youth.

Would the actor be Leslie Nielsen?

Yeppers, it would. He was a meanie in this film.

Ummmm still drawing a blank I'm afraid Jox, perhaps another clue to the multi talented actress .................................. not Shirley MacLaine by any chance?
|
|
|
Post by Mini Mia on May 17, 2008 22:48:34 GMT -6
Nopers, not Shirley MacLaine. This actress is a singer, songwriter, directer, etc. She's turned down gifts from Richard Simmons.

Another actor in this film had an 'encounter' with mashed potatoes in a different film. He also went up again a great white.
The actress in question won't put her nose to the grindstone, so to speak, for fear it will ruin her voice.
