A castle and a cathedral! Two of my favorites places to visit. I also love going through old cemetaries. Weird, I know, but whenever I'm somewhere that has one, I have to walk through if I get a chance. I'm always up for a cup of coffee, but this time I'll buy. Sweet dreams to all. storage.proboards.com/893671/images/ljxEFlZASExudmonnAMT.gif[/mgi]

I would love to see other castles other than the one in Ky. I think they are so pretty from the T.V. shows I have seen. American Castles is a show I have watched. I bet the ones in Germany, England and all around the world are much prettier because they are older and when there wasn't so much population when they were built and people took pride in building them. There was a castle in Versailes Ky. It was built brick by brick from England I think.(it was moved to the U.S. because his wife wanted to live in the U.S. so I have heard. )But it burnt down last year. Don't know how. I don't know how long it was there. I didn't research it, all I know is what I've been told by people. I did see it on T.V. while it was burning the news did a live showing of it. I cried Hi everyone

Hi Xengab. I'll remedy the coffee situation....there, I set the timer on the pot so it's freshly brewed when you arrive tomorrow. How's that?
It was a beautiful night for a walk. Christmas lights everywhere as we strolled through the neighborhood. As we got closer to town, we could hear the music and laughter from the outdoor ice rink. No clouds in the sky, and we could actually we the stars for the first time in about a week. And there was no wind!!!! A rare occurance, that.
Tomorrow the sun shines, (or so they say - I'm wishing it so). Enjoy your day, all.

I wish everyone here around a merry Nicolaus! May your boots be full of fruits and sweeties! I like chicken, but not so often as the people eats here. If I can choosen between chicken, pig, bull, lamb and fish - I'll take fish everytime. Sorry, am I born and raised on the "waterkant" ( for all others here around WATER is written in my langauge (low german) and means water KANT means edges, coast )

Hello Xengab, hello Eirene.
Xengab, you said where I live sounds idyllic. It is in a lot of ways. We love it here. After living in a couple big cities, and some places in-between big and small, I find that definately a small town is for me. Little Xena told me this evening as we were walking downtown to see the lights and holiday displays in the shop windows that she is so glad we live here, and I had to agree.
Not to say that there aren't disadvantages to living in a small town where 60 percent of the population are only summer residents with second or third homes here, and when, in the tourist season, the prices of everything are nearly doubled over what they are in the winter months.
But, in my opinion, living near the Lake makes up for many of the inconviences and hassles. Our town is right on the shore of one of the Great Lakes, which have to be seen to be appreciated. Vast, endless water, both powerful and beautiful. In the winter, huge ice-bergs pile up on shore and the lighthouse is covered in frozen waves of ice. As spectacular as the sunsets in summer.
I only wish it weren't so windy. Brrrr.
Oops, Eirene. That was your wood? Sorry, just wanted to start a fire in the fireplace. The wind is howling tonight.

Hi Phalon, you are making your place sound better all the time.It gets quite windy here too, living so near the east coast, but by the sound of it,it gets a lot colder where you are.Little Xena sounds like a sweet little girl.
See ya.
