Sailing - Christopher Cross (considered by VH-1 to be the #1 Soft Rock song. It wouldn't have been my choice, but it would have been on my list of the top 50.)

Fifth Harmony (not my taste, but BP actually got to meet them before a concert her friend and friend's mom took them to a few years ago; I graciously declined going)

HA! Is that a play on words? Not quite sure, because I haven't seen any Fifth Harmony commercials.
success....as in commercial success - the thing most musicians seek.

The one I had in mind was a Hershey's commercial. It's a little kid failing at dancing, if that's what he was trying to do, to Baby I'm Worth It.
Success makes me think of failure. Put them together and I come up with Ike and Tina Turner. After being beaten up several times she wised up and split off from him - within a few years she divorced him. Tina went on to a celebrated career as a fan favorite. Ike faded about as fast as the dark side of the moon.

Eric Clapton - "Slowhand", "God", one of the best guitarists in history, who coincidentally, played lead guitar (uncredited) for the Beatles on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

No argument with that statement.

I agree with you, I wasn't a fan of Neil Sedaka.
Stairway To Heaven - Sedaka's version went higher on the charts than Zed Zeppelin's.

I can't explain why, exactly, but Neil Sedaka always struck me as being creepy.
I thought you meant his version of Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" charted higher than Zeppelin's release of the same song, and I was all "eewww, eeew, eeew" at the thought of Sedaka singing what I know as "Stairway to Heaven"; second thought was there is no way his version (of the same song) reached higher on the charts. Of course I had to drill, and found they were two different songs. I'd bet, although Sedaka's "Stairway to Heaven" charted higher, Zeppelin's has more staying power - more famous, if you will.
slow dance - even though "Stairway to Heaven" (by Zeppelin) was old then, it was played at every junior high and high school dance I went to, and there was always that awkward moment with your partner when it changes from a slow song to a fast one, and WTF are you supposed to do? ("Come Sail Away" by Styx was another)

I agree completely. Even you didn't know that Sedaka's was a different song. Zeppelin's version is the only one people remember these days.
There's other forms of dance? I prefer holding on, but for us it was The Beatles, CCR, Fleetwood Mac, Mama & Papa's, and The Monkees. Stairway to Heaven was released the year I graduated - too late for any prom I even though about attending.

Here Comes the Sun (probably one of the only Beatles' songs I still listen to; it's one of both girls' favorites, so we have it on a lot of mixed CDs)

I mentioned a few of my favorites a couple weeks ago - and one of the local stations specializes in Beatles music on weekends. It's not the only thing they play, but the Beatles dominate airtime.
Here Comes The Rain Again by the Eurythmics. Especially appropriate over the past 36 hours - a song I like, more than 4" of badly needed rain, and temperatures have moderated nicely.

Dave Stewart may have been in the band, but to me The Eurythmics always was all about...

I've always thought so too. Did you know she was bone on Christmas Day?
I'm not sure who to pick next - Blondie or Pat Benatar. I guess I'll go with Blondie.

Just as Annie Lennox is to the band the Eurythmics, Deborah Harry is to the band Blondie. I couldn't tell you the names of anyone else in Blondie, but Deborah Harry.

Debbie Harry is, get ready for this one, 71.
There's at least one guy rocker who's also still going strong - Rod Stewart.

Didn't I just see something where he got knighted recently....maybe within the last week? (I dunno, I don't pay much attention to celebrity news) Just drilled, and yes, he's now Sir Rod, joining Paul McCartney in knighthood.
Oh, and I almost forgot - Elton John
