Ahhh should have remembered, you mentioned a bit back in this thread that you'd never seen it.
You may know of it though, the actor who played the Sheriff was, as Stepper said, in Alien as the Captain of the ill fated Nostromo; if that doesn't help or nobody else comes up with the answer in a day or two I'll post another game.

I got the actor Kat. Tom Skerritt, Capn Dallas of the Nostromo.
And I'm reliably informed by Vox that it could be Dr Brock from Picket Fences. Apparently it did air over here on one of the satellite channels but it completely passed me by.

That's the one! I couldn't remember the name of the show, but that's the one I was trying to remember. Way to go MG! LOL! I'll feel pretty stupid if that's not it.

Sorry for the delay.
This actor played a Lt. Commander in a series set at sea!

No problems mate.
First name that sprang to mind was "Horatio Hornblower" which would make you the bloke who was also in "X-Men" and whose name I couldn't even begin to spell, initials are IG.
Am I in the ball park?

Yikes you're not wrong, if my second guess is correct I was roughly 150 years out on the time frame of the show.
Think you may be Ernest Borgnine, aka Lt. Commander McHale from "McHales Navy?"
Does that earn me admission?

Again, sorry for the delay.
I left early from a series that went on to have a long and successful run, starred in another show that folded after one season then hit pay dirt with my current long running show in which I have a penchant for sun glasses and standing around with my hands on my hips looking cool ....... oh and I also get to solve crimes.

Eeew, eeew, ick, ick, ick.
You are that icky red-haired guy played by the red-haired icky actor who used to be on NYPD Blues, but left because your ego was too large, got your own show which failed, and then landed on CSI Miami playing another red-haired icky guy who stands around trying to look cool. You are the reason I don't watch CSI Miami, and therefore, I don't know your name. If I had to guess I'd say the actor's name is icky David Something-or-Other.
(Do I at least get partial credit for this? eye-roll)

No need to be embarrassed about having the hots for me, many ladies do after all; if you'd like an autographed photo just let me know where to send it and it'll be in the mail straight away, Now if I understand the rules here you're a winner and get to post the next game ...... David [ Mr cool ] Caruso. P.S. there's an autographed photo for you as well Mini - Mia if you so desire, I can tell you're a big fan also. Egotistical? Me?

Ooooo, can it be one of the many butt shots you plagued the screen with during your NYPD days? (cringe, gag and eye-roll)
I get this one? Not Joxie?

Ooooo, can it be one of the many butt shots you plagued the screen with during your NYPD days? (cringe, gag and eye-roll) Excellent choice, watch for the mail. I get this one? Not Joxie? Well you did identify me even if my last name slipped your mind, but I'll leave you and Mini - Mia .... Joxie to sort it out.

Ok, since Mini-Joxie passed the buck, I'll go ahead and give it a try...
As you can tell from my nickname which has to do with a certain part of the anatomy, I'm considered a hussy...or maybe a floozy. A tramp? Possibly just hot. I'm blonde too, but certainly don't fall into that "dumb blonde" stereotype. I perform exceptionally well under the worst of circumstances, which pertains to my job and, considering my current bad choice in men, my love life....cuz no woman in their right mind would have chosen this icky weasel, except for possibly his wife.

Ummm you're a very interesting person I'm thinking [ and so is the character you just described ] badda boom ;D Okay enough with the "jokes." Would this character be from a half hour sitcom series?

Post by Phalon on Dec 3, 2009 11:03:41 GMT -6
Yes, Katina, I am an interesting person....but that's beside the point, I mean to say, yes, the character is from a classic half-hour sitcom.

Let's look at the clues ... classic half hour sitcom, the nickname, difficult job and a icky weasel for a boyfriend, could you be ........
"Hot Lips" Houlihan from "M*A*S*H?"

I'm a hard working, dedicated police officer, the three main loves of my life are my job, my new boyfriend and my Brother, though I'm unaware that the latter hides a dark secret.

Hi back atcha Vox. Nope not Angie, this ones a "lot" more recent.

I'm guessing here (surprised?), but I'll say Diane Russell from NYPD Blue. I'm not sure about the brother with the dark secret (though I sort of remember a family member with a drug addiction? Alcoholism?), but I definitely remember the (hot, hot, hot) new boyfriend, Jimmy Smits.

Nice guess Gams, but alas it's not DR from NYPD.
More recent, in fact "much" more recent, and the hot, hot, hot Jimmy Smits is a hint [ kinda ]
